At Better Pet Vets, we offer a wide range of medical services to help keep your pet happy and healthy. Our services include wellness exams, x-rays, vaccinations, microchipping, desexing, dental care and surgery for small pets. Our Mackay vet clinic provides pet care and advice on nutrition, pet behaviour, insurance and other common pet illnesses. We teach puppy preschool classes and offer cat boar

ding services too. Not only thatâ€"our pharmacy carries a variety of medicine to ensure your furry friend receives the medication they need. Call us today for more information or make a booking online. We also offer 24-hour emergency veterinary care.

- Monitor hospital patients
- Triage emergencies
- Prep surgery patients
- Monitor anaesthetics
- Nurse consults
- Assist with dental procedures
- Client communications

One dog’s gift. Another dog’s second chance.🩸

Last Thursday one of our blood donors Obi the Cane Corso got the call up for an urgent blood donation to Riggs the Wolfhound x. Without Obi’s help Riggs’ outcome may have been very different. We saw Riggs back in clinic today and are so happy to see how well he has improved after his stay in hospital and blood transfusion.

We’re forever grateful to Obi and his amazing family for being there when Riggs needed them most. Heroes come in all shapes and sizes, and sometimes they have four paws. 🐾

Paralysis ticks are on the move. The photos attached are FOUR paralysis ticks we have removed from 3 seperate patients this week alone.

How to keep your pet safe:
- Perform daily tick checks
- Preventatives (oral tablets, topical treatments, year long injection)

Tick preventatives are available in 3 different treatment forms as listed. Please ensure your pet is up date to with theirs to protect them from the deadly paralysis tick (Ixodes holocyclus).

We have one very proud teacher tonight. From week one to week five, each puppy has made such an improvement in their socialisation & training skills. Their owners have truly been putting in the work at home with their training & tonight reflected that.

☢️CHEMOTHERAPY ☢️

Did you know?

Chemotherapy is not suitable for every patient. Why? Cancer in our pets is different to cancer in humans. This is due to research still being conducted and not every cancer that occurs is responsive to chemotherapy.

Luckily for our superstar patient Luna, she was a candidate for our chemotherapy protocol. She just completed her 9th round today and is due for her last session in 2 weeks time. 💜

⭐️Dog Walk for Cancer Challenge Complete⭐️

Congratulations to our team who took on the challenge this past month and put one paw in front of the other and raised money for a good cause.

We’re extending a massive THANKYOU to our community who donated in clinic, through our links online and supported us every step of the way. Our team couldn’t be more grateful💜

Altogether, we’ve walked over 450km, raised just over $3100 and most importantly had the discussion of why we’re doing this challenge with countless of people over the past month.

As promised, everyone who donated went into a draw for a raffle prize 💜🫶🏼
