Today's Musing..

Where does efficiency come from?

My Dad would often say that I have too many balls in the air. Some days, I would agree with him. But then I wonder... if there are no balls in the air, does that mean I am doing enough? Or have I simply stopped moving?

I've often questioned whether the way I do things is efficient or whether it just looks chaotic from the outside. To me, it feels like the only way to fit everything into the time available. While one thing is simmering, another is being organised. While I'm heading to one task, I'm already carrying something for the next. It's a constant dance of movement and momentum.

But where does that come from? Are we born with it or is it something life teaches us?

Perhaps efficiency is not about speed at all. Maybe it is about awareness. The awareness to never walk somewhere with empty hands. The habit of putting things away when you're finished with them. The discipline of dealing with something now rather than creating another task for later.

I have a particular dislike for the question, "Where is the...?" There is a certain freedom in knowing where things belong. So everyone knows where things belong. A certain peace in creating order before chaos has a chance to settle in.

Maybe efficiency isn't a skill. Maybe it's a philosophy. A collection of small decisions repeated so often they become part of who we are.

And perhaps that's the real question. Are efficient people born that way, or are they simply people who have spent a lifetime learning that every little action today is a gift to their future self tomorrow?

I'm not sure I know the answer. But I do know that, for me, life seems to flow a little easier when there are a few balls in the air, a purpose to every trip, and a place for everything when the day is done.

Goodnight my friends..

Today's Musing...

For the last three days I have been surrounded by knowledge, passion, curiosity and generosity.

Each year we run a horse dissection. For some people, that idea can be difficult to understand. They wonder why we do it. The answer is actually quite simple: closure.

The horses entrusted to us are donated by owners who have already travelled a long and often exhausting road. Emotionally, physically and financially, they have explored every avenue trying to understand why their horse presented with certain behaviours, movement patterns or soundness issues. The answers will come too late to change the outcome, but they can still provide something incredibly valuable—peace. Understanding. Closure.

Today marked the completion of our 13th dissection, and every year I am reminded what an extraordinary industry I am privileged to be part of. The room is filled with passionate horse people from every corner of the equestrian world—body workers, farriers, veterinarians, dentists, physiotherapists, coaches, riders, stable managers, horse owners and many more. Different backgrounds, different experiences, yet all united by one thing: a desire to learn and to better understand the horse.

My role during these conferences is relatively simple. I keep everyone fed with morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea. Yet while preparing meals and moving around the room, I am fortunate enough to listen. To hear the discussions, the questions, the theories, the moments of discovery. To witness a world-renowned specialist in her field generously sharing decades of knowledge, explaining, demonstrating, answering questions and then explaining it all again from a different angle so that everyone can understand.

It reminds me that wisdom is not just found in knowing. It is found in sharing.

But perhaps what stays with me most is the gratitude I feel towards the owners who make this learning possible. In one of their hardest moments, they choose to give something back to the industry and to the horses that will follow. Their generosity allows us to look beneath the skin, to challenge assumptions, to answer questions and sometimes to uncover truths that may help countless other horses and owners in the future.

There is something deeply philosophical about that. Even in loss, there can be purpose. Even in endings, there can be contribution. Even in grief, there can be a gift.

For three days I have watched knowledge grow because of generosity and I have been reminded that some of the most meaningful lessons in life come from those who have nothing left to gain, yet still choose to give.

For that, I am profoundly grateful. ❤️

Join us live as we put one of our horses on the treadmill and show you exactly how we use this incredible tool as part of our training and conditioning program 👀
Treadmill work can play a huge role in helping horses develop strength, posture, balance, coordination and body awareness — all within a safe and controlled environment.
One of the biggest benefits is how it helps horses build correct muscle patterns and fitness without the added strain of carrying a rider every day. Through consistent, balanced movement, horses can develop topline, core strength, stamina and overall body control while learning to use themselves more effectively.
It’s not about forcing movement — it’s about creating strength, confidence and understanding so that ridden work becomes easier, more balanced and more sustainable long-term.
During the live, we’ll walk you through:✨ How we use the treadmill in our program✨ Why treadmill work is so valuable for horses of all ages and stages✨ How it supports strength, posture and correct movement✨ How it can complement ridden work and overall conditioning
If you’ve ever wondered whether treadmill work could benefit your own horse — whether they’re young, in work, coming back into training, needing extra fitness, rehab support, or simply strength development — this is the perfect chance to see it in action 👏
🐴 PLUS — we’ll also be chatting about our upcoming “Try Before You Buy” Treadmill Open Day!
Bring your horse along for a FREE 15-minute treadmill session, including:✨ A gentle introduction to the treadmill✨ Full supervision with Leanne Williams✨ An explanation of how it works and why it’s beneficial
Perfect for horses needing fitness work, strength building, rehab support, conditioning, or simply a confidence-building experience.
👉 Spectators are welcome too!⏰ Open Day runs from 10:00am – 3:00pm📅 Saturday 27th June📍 Bookings essential — limited spots available https://avocapark.rezdy.com/762638/free-horse-treadmill-session-open-day-try-before-you-buy🎁 Exclusive treadmill package discounts available on the day for attendees

Today's Musing...

Recently I learnt about something called *decision fatigue*, and suddenly a lot of things made sense.

Some days it feels like all I do is answer questions. Big ones, small ones, important ones, and those seemingly insignificant ones that somehow still require thought. What needs doing first? What can wait? What if I miss something? What if I choose the wrong path?

When you're the person responsible for making the decisions, there isn't always someone to pass them to. There isn't always someone to tell you if you're right. Sometimes you simply gather the information you have, make the best choice you can, and hope it was enough.

What I find interesting is that often the hardest part isn't the decision itself. It's carrying the weight of all the responsibility. The awareness that every choice closes one door and opens another. The quiet fear that something important might have been overlooked.

And then, every now and again, someone else makes the decision. They say, "I've got this," or simply tell you what needs to happen next. The feeling of relief can be surprising. Not because you can't make the decision yourself, but because for a moment the responsibility is shared. For a moment, you don't have to carry every possible outcome on your shoulders. You can simply follow.

I think that's why strong teams, trusted friends and good partners are so valuable. They don't just help with the workload; they help carry the mental load. Sometimes the greatest gift someone can give us is not advice, but certainty.

Life doesn't come with perfect information. We rarely get to see all the pieces before making a move. If we waited until we were certain, very little would ever happen.

Perhaps wisdom isn't about always making the right decision. Perhaps it's about trusting ourselves enough to make a decision, learn from the outcome, and keep moving forward. And perhaps it's also about recognising when it's okay to let someone else lead for a while.

At the end of the day, every one of us is navigating uncertainty. Some days the responsibility feels heavier than others. On those days, it might be worth remembering that perfection was never the goal. Progress was.

And tomorrow, there will be more decisions to make. But for tonight, I think it's enough to acknowledge that carrying the responsibility of choosing can be exhausting, and that sometimes simply doing our best is more than enough.

Meet Edoras Jazmine – our beautifully educated Dutch Warmblood FEI dressage mare who gives riders the opportunity to experience what correct, high-level dressage truly feels like ✨🐎

Jazmine is perfect for riders wanting to advance their dressage riding, refine their aids and experience movements such as shoulder-in, travers and renvers while developing true balance, timing and connection.

What makes Jazmine so special is how educated and honest she is. If your aids are correct, she responds beautifully. If they’re unclear, she lets you know. She doesn’t just carry riders through movements — she teaches feel, precision and harmony in a way that is incredibly rewarding and eye-opening.

There is honestly nothing quite like riding Jazmine well. When everything comes together, she gives riders a glimpse into what dressage is really meant to feel like — soft, powerful, effortless and completely connected.

Like all of our school horses, Jazmine works regularly with our Equestrian Australia qualified coaches to maintain her strength, education and quality of training, allowing riders to safely experience and understand high-level dressage work.

✨ Lessons on Jazmine are highly sought after and suited to riders wanting to seriously improve their dressage riding and feel.

Today we’re working with an OTTB who has come into retraining quite inverted and braced through the sternum — something we commonly see in horses who have learnt to carry themselves with tension rather than true postural balance.
At this stage, our focus is not on forcing a head position, but on helping him discover a softer, more functional way of moving and carrying himself 🐎
✨ Part 1: Releasing the BraceWe begin by encouraging relaxation through the underside of the neck, chest, and sternum. Using soft, upward guidance through the cheekpiece, we help him seek a light forward contact without leaning, pulling, or becoming defensive in the mouth.
✨ Part 2: Rebuilding BalanceBecause he has spent time moving in an inverted posture, he first needs to learn how to redistribute his weight more evenly through his body. We work on lateral, longitudinal, and diagonal balance so he can begin carrying himself with greater stability rather than bracing against gravity.
✨ Part 3: Suppleness & BendAt halt, we introduce gentle neck bends without poll flexion. This improves suppleness through the ribcage and shoulders while helping him remain upright and balanced instead of collapsing through the sternum.
✨ Part 4: Extension & PostureWe then encourage the neck to stretch forward and down, allowing the poll to lower below the withers. This helps lift the base of the neck, release the topline, and encourage the thoracic sling to begin supporting the horse correctly.
Finally, we bring these principles into in-hand work in motion. As he starts to move with less brace through the chest and sternum, he can begin engaging his core, lifting through his back, and stepping more actively underneath with his hindquarters.
These early sessions are all about rebuilding posture, confidence, and correct biomechanics so this young OTTB can develop into a relaxed, balanced, and willing ridden horse ✨

Todays Musing..

I had many ideas for tonight’s musing, but instead I’ve just spent the last two hours crying over the ending of a television series I have been watching for months. I didn’t realise tonight was the final episode. I knew the storyline was moving toward an ending, but suddenly… there it was. Finished. And somehow it felt like saying goodbye to people I had come to know.

This was not my plan for the evening.

I came home ready to prepare food for our upcoming dissection weekend — spaghetti bolognese for 25 people, chicken soup for 10 and a chocolate mousse cake. Wine poured, ingredients ready, mind focused on practical things. But life has a funny way of interrupting our plans with emotion when we least expect it.

What struck me most about this series was not the drama, but the humanity. Over 5 seasons it followed friendships, marriages, children and all the complicated layers in between. It covered infidelity, su***de, addiction, cancer, paraplegia, dementia, in*******al relationships, gay children coming out, divorce, new love, death and grief. Real life things. The uncomfortable things. The things many people quietly live through while the rest of the world carries on around them.

What I loved most was that it never seemed to ask us to judge the characters. Only to understand them.

Maybe that is one of the greatest lessons in life — that people are rarely just “good” or “bad”. We are all simply humans trying to navigate pain, love, fear, hope and connection the best way we can at the time. Sometimes beautifully. Sometimes terribly. But always imperfectly.

In the end, the overall message I took from it was simple… acceptance matters, understanding matters and love matters most of all.

And perhaps that is why stories affect us so deeply. Because somewhere amongst the fiction, we quietly find pieces of ourselves.

So with my spagetti bolognese, chicken & vegie soup and chocolate cake made, I say goodnight friends!

Today Zoe is being lunged by our wonderful team member Danya. Zoe is currently experienceing an acceleration problem Danya is an EA Intro coach, currently training towards her level 1 Dressage coaching qualifications.

In todays live, Danya is under instruction from Leanne on lunging. There is alot of technique in correctly lunging a horse to make it beneficial in their training routine. We are not lunging to get excess energy out prior to a ride. Today is a training session. Working on engaging her core and bascule muscles. Telescoping her neck, in natural motion, without using "gear" to creat the shape. We are teaching Zoe how to engage the correct muscles to strenghten and improve without the rider.
