What an amazing day for the Bark In The Park event last Sunday hosted by Charis Mullen MP

It was such a well organised event due to Charis and her staff who worked tirelessly over many months to organise everything that goes into such a big event. Many thanks also to the volunteers and supporters of the event and the many stall holders and of course all of you who came along and enjoyed the day.

Thank you also to the Empower Assistance Dogs volunteers and the Empower Puppy Raisers and Therapy Dog handlers and of course the very special dogs who do such a wonderful job. We had some school principals, teachers and counsellors also bring their Empower dogs along to join in the fun. We thank you all.

We also need to thank Mayoress Ali Raven for towing the trailer, Kylie Williams from KWP Studios Flagstone for the great photos and Kylie from Ceres Quality Catering for providing breakfast and keeping the wheel spinning throughout the day. Elaine Quarman did great with organising the wheel and Steve from for your amazing support. Mandah Llewellyn great job with the treats for those fussy eaters! Please forgive us if we have missed someone, we want you all to know how great the day was due to your efforts.

A final thank you to Nick Hannam who not only packed all of our equipment into the trailer in preparation of the day but also unpacked for us in the pouring rain. Thanks for helping make a difference Nicko!

Just really wanted to acknowledge what a fun, action packed day it was and we loved seeing the community coming together. Thanks Charis and Team....love your work!!

Today I got to catch up with Abby 🙏

Abby lives with FND, and is supported by her assistance dog Greg 🐕‍🦺
Greg helps Abby with mobility, her daily activities, and he is also able to sense when Abby is going to have a seizure.

Thanks to amazing organisations like Empower Assistance Dogs, and supporters like Blackout Catering Group, matches like this between handler and assistance dog flourish 🧡

One of the toughest jobs selecting the winners 😩there were so many amazing entries

Tracey & I had SUCH a tough job today 😥

The Empower Assistance Dogs x Bark in the Park colouring competition 🎨was open to all primary school students from Prep to Year 3... and we had some seriously amazing entries!

We've examined every entry and whilst we loved them all, a few really stood out and out of 272 entries we've chosen our 9 lucky winners!

Come along to this fantastic event supported by Charis Mullen MP State Member for Jordan. It's going to be a great day out for the entire family with loads of amazing prizes and activities. You really don't want to miss this!!!

This year's Bark in the Park will have a special focus on supporting the incredible Empower Assistance Dogs to continue their fantastic work.

I absolutely love that they harness the magic ✨ of dogs to enhance quality of life for people facing various challenges.

They currently provide assistance dogs for some of our local schools including Hymba Yumba Independent School & Springfield Central State School.

The team will be at the event with a 'Spin the Wheel' comp and LOTS of great prizes to win. All proceeds to support their operations.

Do you have a friendly, well-mannered dog who loves people and brings smiles wherever they go? You might make the paw-fect therapy dog team!

Empower Assistance Dogs is looking for volunteers to join our Therapy Dog Program across South-East Queensland. This is your chance to give back to the community, visiting places like hospitals, aged care homes, schools, and corporate wellness events all with your beloved pet by your side.

What we're looking for:
Calm, social pet dogs
Owners who are friendly, reliable and passionate about helping others
Availability to attend visits during weekdays or weekends
Willingness to undergo our onboarding and training process

No prior experience required – we’ll guide you every step of the way!

We’re back up and into it for 2026…. but we can’t forget to say thank you to all of our amazing supporters throughout 2025. At the end of last year we had another visit from Technology 1 and once again the team volunteered and put in an amazing effort to help us.
Now we have a fresh start for the New Year with our training room freshened up and our equipment container cleaned out and well organised.
Thanks so much for all you do to support the community through their Foundation. We truly appreciate you and your amazing team 🙏🤩
