Monday the 24th of August is our last day open before we all head off for a well-earned break and some dog shows! 🐶🏆

🐾 A LITTLE SASSY DOG UPDATE 🐾

A lot of you may or may not know that we show dogs outside of Sassy Dog. Dog showing is our hobby and something we love doing, but with work, life and everyone’s commitments we don’t get to all go away together as much as we’d like.

We’ve got a couple of big dog show trips coming up so things are going to be a little different around the salon over the next few weeks.

Our last day of work will be Tuesday the 25th of August and we’ll be back at work on Tuesday the 2nd of September.

This does mean our availability is going to become quite limited before we head away, so if you’re hoping to have your dog groomed before then, please get in touch sooner rather than later.

Then, once we’re back, we have the Adelaide Royal coming up at the beginning of September. This will mean some additional days where we’ll be closed, as well as reduced availability while some of our team are away showing.

So between grooming dogs, showing dogs and generally being surrounded by dogs 24/7… it’s going to be a busy few weeks around here! 😂🐶

We just wanted to give everyone a heads up so you know what’s happening with our opening days and availability over the next little while.

Even though we’re usually closed on Tuesdays, we’ll be OPEN next Tuesday the 28th!

Winter is definitely here but don’t forget to keep your dog’s grooming appointments.

We’ve seen a huge increase in heavily matted dogs over the past few months. It’s a common misconception that leaving the coat longer will keep your dog warmer. Unfortunately, if that coat becomes matted it actually does the opposite.

Mats pull tightly on the skin, trap moisture and dirt, stop air from circulating and can become incredibly uncomfortable and painful. They can also hide skin issues that we can’t see until the coat is removed.

Keeping your dog on a regular grooming schedule through winter helps keep their coat healthy, comfortable and able to do its job properly.

If you’re not sure how often your dog should be groomed, just ask us. We’d much rather help you stay on top of it than have to clip a matted coat right back.

If your pup is due for a groom, now’s the perfect time to book them in before our appointments fill up. 🐾

FLEA PSA 🫠🚨

Okay… we need to talk.

Over the past week we’ve started spotting fleas popping up on dogs coming into the salon.

Fleas aren’t just a “quick itch” situation. If your dog has them they’ve probably already moved into your carpets, couch, bedding… the whole house is now their Airbnb.

Here’s your anti-flea game plan:
• Keep up with flea prevention (don’t ghost it 👀)
• Wash bedding regularly — hot wash only please
• Vacuum like you mean it (yes, even the couch)
• And sometimes… you just have to bug bomb the house and start fresh

Now the not-so-fun part:
If your pup comes in with fleas we will need to do a flea wash and soak. This does come with an extra charge to cover the specialised products, extra time and the full salon clean afterwards — including treating the space so we don’t spread the party to other dogs.

We love your dogs. We do not love fleas.
