First lesson back in 6 months! 💜 Let alone not ridden for that period of time. Rocket didn't place a hoof wrong. She tried so hard today and was knackered by the end of it but so was I ✨

I got a bit to work on - sitting up straight, hands forward and remembering to relax 😂

So happy to be back in my happy place and riding again after such a long time off! Jax is on a short spell through winter but he will be back too 💙

Gave Jax a quick pamper session this afternoon starting with a LONG overdue tail wash. Using his new tail bag and fleece rug from . ✨ Hoping this keeps him a little warmer after being informed most rugs are 150-200. The winter rug we have doesn't have any tags or information unfortunately 😕

Jax doesn't have a big winter coat or any at all. So hoping this adds another layer for those cold frosty mornings that are coming! ❄️

We are long overdue for updates but truth be told we haven't been riding since February after he came down with not 1 but 2 abscesses in his hind hooves. He's recovered really well but did drop a bit of weight so have changed his feeding routine to a better one after lots of advice 💜 Finding adlib hay has not been easy either. So thankful for the farmers who are getting hay into SA ❤️

🦷 Dentist Day 🦷

🦷 Jax was a very good boy for the dentist considering I don't know anything about his history. He was bad unfortunately but not as bad I had thought (I was thinking maybe a tooth removal). Jax had lots of sharps, hooks and imbalance with lacerations and ulcers in his upper cheeks 😔 luckily they will heal pretty quickly 😮‍💨 Hopefully this helps with weight gain even though the dentist said he looks good but it's all just muscle that's missing 😊 Now to get my bum into gear and start riding to build his muscle 😅

🦷 Rocket didn't disappoint. She was very well behaved as usual. It has been over a year since she was last done. She had the odd hooks and a handful of sharps and imbalances but not as bad as Jax. I didn't realise how much pigging out Rocket has been doing as she currently looks like she's pregnant 😂

So last Friday evening, we went to the freshmans show jumping for exposure. He was forward and active which was great! It was me that was the issue 😅 we went in the ring and walked around, no worries but he cantered (unsure if that was me or something else, I don't recall). I allowed him and went "okay, let's bring him back in a nice clear open area. Too many items where we are" so I moved him towards the back and bam! A small pot plant I didn't see 🙈

So of course with a pigroot and a twist, I went splat onto the shellgrit. First fall off the big boy and it hurts 🤕 It wasn't his fault and I won't fault him. I just didn't see the plant. Oh well. Leg was the worst of it, more like internal muscle bruising probably or in Daniels case a corky 😅

Jax getting his regularly physiokey session treated 🩷 He responds well, and loves .roberts.92, each session he responds in different areas especially as we are progressing along in our riding.

This time he had tightness in his front near shoulder, which was to be expected after achieving a left rein canter after our pole clinic. (Another post soon). We have been focusing on the left rein as it's the side he struggles most on when trotting, flexing, cantering and moving off the leg. 🐎

Got a dental visit coming up for the big boy to have a look at his teeth! As I have no idea when they were last done 😞

🩷Couple days ago we had our weekly lesson and worked on something different. Getting him to work on his flexion and being off the leg more than what he is. Which isn't much if any 😂 took a bit but he came in pretty quickly! Life's been hectic and I have been meaning to post a lot more than what I have! So I apologise for this 🥺

🩷 Transitioning bubs to his new room the last couple weeks and some nights it's easier than others. So broken sleep makes me tired 😴

🩷 Transitioning into a new job, 3 days a week to get my weekeneds back! 🩷🩷🩷 I will announce this in time as I am quite excited but learning the ropes still 🌟

🩷 Transitioning into Tafe more after our break and smashing our placement as well in childcare, and afternoon/evening Tafe online.

🩷 Not to mention the swimming lessons and everything else that happens in the background 😅

Another trip down to TWEPC Rally to see what the big man would do.

I have noticed a couple things, he's more antsy when on the ground and a bit pushy. Unsure if it's because he's looking around and forgets that I'm there 😅 or because he's still adjusting to the new area.

We lunged to start with as this wind is crazy and I had no idea what to expect from him. He listened well with lots of walk/trot/halt transitions both directions.

I got on! I was a bit tense 😬 I tried to relax as best I could 😪 We got some long and low moments, with some long rein and short rein. I didn't want to overwhelm him so got off early.

Forgetting that Hazel was coming down to help. 😔 Sorry Hazel!

Wind 🌬️ and rain 🌧️ didn't stop us today 😅
Jax started on the lunge due to myself not being sure how he would handle the crazy wind. We did lots of transitions in walk and trot, with sprailing in and out to get him thinking 💭 Had a small mishap when ended in him cantering on the left lead 🤯 this was big for him as he struggles to get the left lead. We have to work on "and trotting" command to come back. I got on and we did some long and low with lots of direction changes to understand what Im asking.

Rocket was just plodding along today with Rubi. I was meant to surprise her with a trail ride but the weather made me unsure 😔

Was meant to ride yesterday but the weather caused us to cancel our lesson but instead went for a physiokey session ✨ Jax had tightness through his near side shoulder and throughout his back. Massive releases with spasms occuring all over his body and down his legs. Whether this is a good soreness from working on long and low or not 🤷

I wasn't much help due having Tyler clingy and in his baby carrier 😂 He is a cutie 🥰

🔵 Sorry it's a bit late. Had issues trying to upload for some reason.

🔵 Rubi went out on Rocket to APEC for the slack hack. She quite enjoyed herself and came home with a handful of ribbons ✨

4th in Handler under 12 🏅
2nd in Rider under 12 🥈
1st in pairs of ponies 🥇
2nd matchy matchy. 🥈

🔵 She did some games at the end of the day as well, where she did some pole bending, barrels, walk - trot - run and keyhole novelties.

🔵 We had a firm discussion about behaviour and how important it is to listen. As I wasn't always with her due to Tyler being grizzly and cold. So it was definitely a challenge for myself. 😔

🔵 Rubi isn't the easiest at times due to her being ADHD, and sensory processing. I have decided for future events that I will need someone else with me to help balance everything 🤔

Nice little bit of an exposure day for the big boy. He was a little pushy but with firm reminders he soon settled. Had a little moment of a spook when a pony hit a trot pole from behind so we watched her go around and wasn't bothered. Now in the yard nibbling away.
