We have been getting questions regarding the recent detection of bird flu in Western Australia. Here is a great resource to help keep our feathered (and furry) friends (and their owners) safe and well.

It has the info for what to do if you find sick or injured birds, and the importance of disease testing and reporting.

To keep our patients and our team safe, Please do not bring sick or dead birds to the clinic, and follow these guidelines. There is also tips on how to keep your own birds protected during this time.

Leopold Pet Hospital will be closed on Monday, June 8th, for the Kings Birthday public holiday. If your pet requires urgent attention, please find the emergency vet contact details here. Regular hours will resume on June 9th.

Please note that Leopold Pet Hospital will be closed from Friday 3rd April for the Easter long weekend. We encourage our clients to plan ahead for any pet care needs or medication orders. We will be ready to assist you again once we're back on Tuesday 7th April. Have a joyful and safe Easter!

Hot days can be dangerous for our furry friends. Make sure your pets stay cool, hydrated, and happy with these simple tips:

💧 Hydration & Shade: Always provide fresh water and a cool, shady spot.
🏃‍♂️ Timing of Exercise: Walk or play in the early morning or late evening, and shorten length of activity
🚗 Never Leave Pets in Cars: Temperatures rise quickly, even with windows cracked!
🌡Hot Surfaces: Hot surfaces can burn pets feet. Always test with your hand before walking your pet
🧊Cooling Aids: Use fans, air conditioners, cooling mats, paddling pools and ice treats to help keep pets cool
🛋️ Offer Rest: Bring pets indoors where possible to relax and cool down.
