I'm sharing this so much because it is so important! If your doggy gets any kind of symptoms take them to the vets! ππ
β οΈCANINE COUGH IN LENNOX HEADβ οΈ An important notice our canine community that a virulent strain of canine/kennel cough is making itβs way through Lennox Head, and we have already seen a huge spike in cases this week (at least 5 today). Even with up to date vaccinations, this strain appears to be particularly bad, with symptoms such as a dry, honking cough that often ends in a wretch or gag which can progress into more serious lung infections that cause lethargy and discomfort. π€ We are advising against any large doggy gatherings at the moment and for people to avoid socialising their dogs at the beach and public areas. Parts of the infection agents within this KC complex can actually stay alive for at least 2 days in the environment, meaning anything an infected dog has touched (sticks, toys etc) is also infected. If you believe your dog has the early symptoms and it doesnβt clear up with rest and isolation, give us a call and book them in for a check and supportive care/treatment. We are taking all precautionary measures to thoroughly disinfect the clinic and surrounds between patients, and advise anyone whoβs dog is not up to date with vaccinations to organise this ASAP to help prevent or soften the blow of canine cough. πΆ
