🐍⚠️ SNAKE SEASON IS HERE ⚠️🐍

As the weather warms up, snakes become more active, increasing the chance of encounters with our pets.

Please read the following carefully.

Dogs and cats are naturally curious, and a snake bite can quickly become life-threatening.

🐾 Signs of a possible snake bite include:
• Sudden weakness, wobbliness or collapse
• Shaking or trembling
• Vomiting
• Dilated pupils
• Excessive drooling
• Difficulty breathing
• Paralysis or inability to stand
• Blood in the urine

⚠️ Some pets may collapse after a bite, then appear to recover temporarily. This does not mean they are out of danger.

🐱 Cats can be particularly tricky. Signs may be delayed or less obvious than in dogs, and they can deteriorate later. If your cat may have encountered a snake, seek veterinary advice even if they appear well.

🚨 If you see your pet with a snake or suspect they have been bitten, contact a veterinarian immediately.

Keep your pet calm and still, and carry them rather than allowing them to walk where possible. Do not attempt to catch or kill the snake, and never put yourself at risk trying to identify it.

With snake bites, time matters. If you’re unsure whether your pet was bitten, seek veterinary advice.

🌿 Reduce risks around your home by keeping grass short, clearing debris and limiting potential hiding places.

Stay alert as the weather warms and keep those curious noses safe! 🐶🐱💙

🐾 REMEMBER THIS LITTLE FACE? 🐾

Some of you might remember back in April when we shared a very special arrival at MiVet. On 2 April 2026, this little pup was one of a litter delivered right here at the clinic by Caesarean section. 🥹❤️

Well… look who came back to visit us!

Now almost 5 months old, a LOT has changed! From a tiny newborn who could barely fit in our hands, to this gorgeous, happy pup with a whole lot of personality. He wasn’t partially fond of the lead but we are sure he will get used to it.

We couldn’t resist going back through the photos from the day the litter was born. It’s pretty special getting to see them at the very beginning of their lives and then having them walk back through our doors months later all grown up.

Moments like these are one of our favourite parts of veterinary care.

Of course, we couldn’t celebrate International Dog Day without giving a special shoutout to our clinic favourite, Ricky!

📸 Now we want to see YOUR dogs!
Drop your favourite, funniest or cutest photo of your pup in the comments below and tell us their name. We’d love to fill the comments with some familiar furry faces! 🥰

LOST RABBIT!!

Does anyone recognise this rabbit?

Pure black bunny found near the railway track near wattle hill (near the bridge). If this rabbit belongs to you please call us at 6914 9111.

He/she is busy getting some cuddles but is super tame and placid.

A very special visitor was at the clinic today… Maggie Moo! 🐾

Maggie Moo, Ricky’s beautiful little sister, came in today to be desexed. We don’t get to see her very often, so it was lovely having her in for plenty of cuddles.

Needless to say, Ricky wasn’t too impressed with all the attention she was getting. He’s a little jealous when the cuddles aren’t all for him! 😂

Maggie Moo is now rocking the cone of shame while she heals, and we wish her a smooth and speedy recovery. ❤️

We’d love to see your furry siblings too! Share your favourite photos of your dog duos in the comments below. 📸🐶

📢 Clinic Update for the 6 and 7th of August (Thursday and Friday next week)

Please note that our vets Laura and Alastair will be attending a conference, so there will be no veterinary consultations or procedures available during those days.

Our clinic will remain open as usual for:
🐾 Nurse appointments (one nurse on duty)
📞 Reception enquiries
💊 Prescription and food collections
🛍️ Retail purchases

⚠️ Important reminder: If you require any prescriptions or medications, please make sure to request these in advance of these dates, as we will not be able to process or supply them while the vets are away.

Our reception and nursing duo will be here to help with anything we can, and we’ll be happy to assist with bookings for our vets once they return.

Thank you for your understanding and support. We hope Laura and Alastair have a fantastic conference and bring back plenty of new knowledge to share with the team! 💚

Today we celebrated our vet, Alastair’s birthday as a team! 🎉 (A little late, as his birthday was on the 21st of June, but better to celebrate as a team!)

Happy Belated Birthday, Alastair!

Thank you for everything you do here at MiVet. Your hard work, dedication, and leadership never go unnoticed, and we are incredibly grateful to have such a kind, honourable, and supportive person leading our team. We hope you had a fantastic birthday and wish you all the very best for the year ahead.

And of course, Ricky made a special appearance! 🎂🐾 You can tell he wasn’t too impressed about wearing the party hat, but he loves his dad enough to tolerate it for a few photos.
