This one is also FALSE!
Pets require annual wellness checks to ensure your pets stay healthy and live long happy lives. ❤️

When our vets perform a wellness check they are covering their, teeth, eyes, ears, body condition, diet, any lumps or bumps you've noticed and any general questions or concerns you may have regarding your pet. 👩🏽‍⚕️👨🏻‍⚕️

We also make sure they are all up to date on flea/worming and heart worm prevention🪱. This will all be discussed in your wellness check with one of our vets!

For the month of March we will be busting some common Myths about our pets!

🥛PUPPIES NEED WEETBIX AND MILK 🥛
This is also a myth!
While it is safe for them to have weetbix and milk, it does not meet nutritional requirements and is not a balanced meal for them.
Instead of giving them weetbix they should be on high quality puppy food appropriate for their sizing. They need to remain on puppy food until they reach their mature adult stage (this can depend on the size/breed of the dog)

PETS DO NOT REQUIRE DENTAL PROCEDURES 🦷
This is most definitely not true. Just like us pets require their oral health to be kept up to date to keep them healthy and living their best life! 🐾❤️

Keeping on top of dental health is essential even if that requires regular scale and polishes preventing any tooth extractions. 🦷🪥

Our online system allows you to book when your on the go. It allows you to see all available appointments making it easier for you to find the time that suits you best 🩵

If you wish to start using our online booking system all you have to do is head to our webpage and create an account through our online booking tab.
If your pet has already visited us just make sure you use the same email that is on our file and it will link up your files.

An alternative is that you can contact our friendly staff and they will be able to create an account for you on our end and give you all the details. 📲

For the month of March we will be busting some common Myths about our pets!

IF YOUR DOG IS SCOOTING IT MEANS THEY HAVE WORMS? 🪱
Another common myth is that if your dog is scooting they have worms!
Dogs can scoot for many other reasons besides worms, including a**l glands, allergies to environment/ food, irritation to the area and more! 🤧

While we always recommend that your pets are wormed regularly it is best to bring them in for a veterinary consult if they are scooting to determine if there is something else going on. 👩🏽‍⚕️👨🏼‍⚕️

IS LETTING OUR PETS LICK THEIR WOUNDS GOOD FOR HEALING? ❤️‍🩹
It is a common misconception that our pets saliva has great healing properties and we should let them lick their wounds.
In reality, our pets mouth is full of bacteria and can lead to their wounds getting infected and delay healing time. It is definitely not a good idea to let them clean their own wounds! 🧼

As we have seen quite an increase in puppies the last few months it is really important that we are on top of their worming schedule. 🪱

Puppies need to have an intestinal wormer every 2 weeks until 12 weeks of age, then every month until 6 months then every 3 months for the rest of their lives.
They also need to be protected against heart worm in which we have a couple of different preventatives available at our clinic.

This morning we had 8 Irish wolfhound puppies for their first vaccination, microchip and worming. 💉🐾

They all got the clean bill of health from Dr Laura and a well deserved nap afterwards 👩🏽‍⚕️💤

Juno is looking very relaxed after her eye examination with Dr Alastair yesterday morning.
Juno was very brave getting lots of treats for distractions!
P.s don't mind the pretty green dye around her eyes which we were checking for any ulcers.
