I would just like to put this out there after an unsuccessful pet sit.
Yep, Iโm a big girl and Iโm happy to share this recent story.
I was booked to house sit 2 dogs and some chickens. A new client. I had met the client and pets prior to staying. It was a referral from a client I have sat for multiple times.
Two days into the sit, the dogs got hold of a brown snake.
Being a vet nurse, and not wanting to take chances I got them to the vet asap.
As their humans were on holiday and phone service was not the best, I paid for the treatment. $2,000 worth.
Yes the owners paid when they got home (they had insurance) but I did what was best with a time sensitive issue. We visited two vets for the day to ensure they were ok. I spent all day at the vets.
A few things happened while they were away.
- the fridge died. I didnโt notice for a few days and the food went off. I donโt open/use the fridge every day.
- the garage power spiked and I couldnโt find the power meter in the dark. So I couldnโt get to the dogs food that was in the second fridge. I bought dog food to cover this until I found it.
- due to the fridge dying I missed giving the chooks their greens.
But everything else was accomplished.
However, this is the strange part.
The client assumed that I didnโt stay at night, because - I didnโt use the towel they put out for me.

Now for your attention and piece of mind - I have a gps on my phone.
I sent said information to the client. This shows where I am, where I go with addresses and exact times.
However she still believes I didnโt stay each night. Although the gps shows I stayed at her property for at least 14 hours overnight.
Also, I take photos and videos of your animals every day. At different times to ensure you know they are being looked after.
Some of my other clients have cameras - and have never accused me of lying.
I found this not only offensive, but quite strange.
And not once did the client apologise for assuming incorrectly and still believes to this day I did not stay at her property.
I have since cancelled pre booked dates for next year with this client as I feel uncomfortable.
I would never do this to a client and assuming I didnโt stay JUST BECAUSE I DIDNT USE A TOWEL?
Absolutely ridiculous.
Anyway - I always stay at your property. I have proof. Because of situations like this I cover myself for people who donโt understand or who like to cause issues.
I donโt need the stress and neither do you.
