Important Update: Birds Requiring Veterinary Care
Due to the current avian influenza (bird flu) situation, there is a temporary process that must be followed before bringing any bird (pet or wild) to our clinic.
If you have a sick or injured bird, please call the Emergency Animal Disease (EAD) Hotline on 1800 675 888 before moving the bird. They will assess the situation and advise whether the bird requires testing (swabbing) before it can be be moved.
✅ If swabbing is NOT required:
You are welcome to call the clinic to arrange the to have a veterinary assessment and/or treatment.
🧪 If swabbing IS required:
Local Land Services (LLS) will arrange to assess and swab the bird. If the result is negative, we will be able to provide veterinary care after obtaining a negative result. If the result is positive, the case will be managed by LLS.
🦢 For injured or sick wild birds:
Please contact FAWNA on (02) 6581 4141 before bringing the bird to the clinic. Their experienced wildlife carers are best equipped to assist and can advise on the most appropriate course of action.
💚 Healthy pet birds are still welcome for routine appointments, including beak, nail and wing trims.
