We are so excited to have full spread of Exsanguis for you at Enchanting Realms and Oddities & Curiosities Expo. These are our last events for 2026. Exsanguis, Latin for β€œbloodless,” refers both to medical exsanguination and tales of pale, drained bodies that fuelled anti-vampiric hysteria in 18th–19th century in Eastern and Central Europe. These stories gave rise to apotropaic kits intended to ward against the undead. Exsanguis reimagines these historical relics and prepares them for display in your home.

The dodo skull reflects millions of years of adaptation to an island where large land predators simply didn’t exist.
Without the need to escape danger, flight became unnecessary. Over generations, the dodo evolved into a large, flightless bird, investing its energy into survival within its stable environment rather than maintaining the costly ability to fly. Its robust skull and powerful hooked beak suggest a bird well adapted to processing the tough fruits and seeds that made up much of its diet.
Ironically, the very traits that made the dodo so successful on Mauritius also made it exceptionally vulnerable when humans arrived. Evolution had never β€œprepared” it for hunting, habitat destruction, or introduced predators that raided nests and preyed on eggs.

Ever had one of THOSE weekends as a market vendor? πŸ˜…

For a bit of context... my neighbouring vendor was using my stall as a place to store their drink bottle. It was under the riser, behind our tablecloth, so we didn’t realise what was happening until it was too late.

Day one, the bottle tipped over and smashed one of my glass domes. I brushed it off because accidents happen!

Day two... it happened again.

I was honestly in disbelief that my stall had become the drink bottle holder for a second time after it had already resulted in broken artwork the day before.

This time it knocked over six domes, around $500 worth. Thankfully, I was standing there and managed to catch every single one before they hit the ground.

The best part? There wasn’t even an apology. Just a little giggle and, β€œOh, did they break? Okay.. I definitely won’t be putting it back there again.”

Which, to be fair... probably a lesson worth learning on day 1 - not after round two nearly took six more on a trip to the floor πŸ˜…

Meanwhile, I’m standing there smiling and saying, β€œIt’s all good, they’re fine,” while internally my soul was leaving my body.

Because when every piece is handmade, one of a kind, and uses real specimens that can’t be replaced. So watching a weeks worth of work start to fall is enough to shave a few years off your life.

Market vendors... please tell me I’m not the only one who has had one of THOSE weekends where you stay polite while internally screaming πŸ˜‚
