Hey everyone!
I just wanted to touch base on a small (but important) issue — our grooming times and how long your dog’s appointment may take.
When you book online or directly with us, dogs are generally scheduled on the hour (sometimes half-hourly). Small dogs are usually booked for a one-hour slot, and larger dogs for two hours. This helps us plan our day efficiently — but it doesn’t mean your dog’s groom will be completed exactly in that time.
There are many reasons we may take longer. This is why we ask everyone (and note in the confirmation text) to please allow at least two hours per dog. If we expect to need extra time or are running behind, we’ll always let you know at drop-off.
Why do we sometimes take longer than other salons?
Because we’re a slow-paced salon — and proudly so. We never rush your dogs or ourselves. This keeps both the dogs and the groomers happy and stress-free.
Before opening my own salon, I worked in corporate grooming for five years, where I was expected to complete dogs in 45 minutes. It left no room for extra care with young, elderly, or anxious dogs, and honestly, it made me start to hate my job. Now, I truly love what I do again — and many of you know how passionate I am about this work.
As a home-based salon(two staff members), I’m also able to keep prices affordable. That does mean that sometimes I need to pause briefly to tend to my kids, answer calls or texts, or chat with owners at drop-off and pick-up. And some days, both Morgan and I are just plain exhausted and slower than usual — we’re only human!
Over the last 2.5 years, we’ve only had a couple of clients ever express frustration with timing, but it still really affects us. As someone with anxiety and ADHD (and who experiences RSD), even one negative interaction can linger in my mind for weeks.
So please, communication is key — if you need your dog done by a specific time, just let us know in advance. We’ll always do our best to accommodate you, or we can suggest an earlier drop-off or a different day that suits better. If you wait until drop-off, we may not always be able to promise an exact finish time, especially for dogs needing extra care (senior, matted, or with medical issues etc).
With the busy season approaching, things will get even more hectic. We totally get that it’s a stressful time for everyone! Just remember — we aren’t robots, and neither are your dogs.
And finally, rudeness toward myself or Morgan will not be tolerated.
Thank you all so much for your understanding, patience, and continued support. We truly appreciate every one of you. ❤️
