And happy boy Caesar had a great time at K9 River Retreat. He's also my last delivery in FNQ for quite a while. I'm headed South very soon and am sad to leave my canine friends behind. People too 😉. I thank everyone for their support over the last 3 years and hope to see you all again. You can follow this page to watch the fun in Wangaratta. I'm looking forward to making a lot of new friends. Wondering what all the fuss on our socials is about? It’s because of this brave mumma dog — pulled from a crocodile’s jaws this morning.

This same 5-metre croc has already taken two other dogs since 3am today, and another last week. The area where this mum and her four pups are sheltering is now a hunting ground.

This little family has been battling the elements and surviving on scraps in a remote community. Thankfully, a kind local has been feeding them, but with 20+ dogs already in his care, he simply can’t take them in.

And they are not safe.

Animal Welfare League QLD has offered to take them in, but we need to get them to Cairns first, and ensure they’re vaccinated before they can be accepted.

To make this rescue happen, we need to raise $3,400 for flights, parasite treatments, food, and two rounds of vaccinations.

As you can see, one pup has a damaged eye. Another is trembling from injury or illness.

We’ve asked a lot from our community the past few weeks. You guys have helped us save so many deserving souls with your incredible donations, and we're SO grateful.

We hate asking again. We don't want to keep begging.

So we've spent the past few days creating something NEW that can SAVE lives too!

Hey RAA Family - we really need your help before we can say yes to bringing down the mum and 4 pups we told you about yesterday 💔 Let's call them the 'Croc Fam'.

As you know, we've got 16 dogs to place at the moment. However, due to the very real threat of the Croc Fam being taken by a croc, we've reached out to the current carers of all RAA dogs awaiting a foster transfer, to ask if they would consider holding onto their foster pup/s a little longer to allow us to bring this desperate family into care. Where possible, all of our carers kindly agreed to let them jump the queue - THANK YOU!!

However, there are four adorable pups already in our care who URGENTLY need to be moved to new homes. Their current carer has tried SO hard to make suitable arrangements to keep them in her care, but unfortunately it's just not possible with some other commitments that have arisen.

SO - we need your help to....
1) Secure new foster homes OR POTENTIAL ADOPTION FAMILIES for the 4 existing RAA pups, then...
2) Find a carer (or multiple carers) so we can bring the Croc Fam down to safety

It would be IDEAL if we could secure carers/homes for these 9 dogs TODAY, so that we can book the Croc Fam a flight down into Cairns for tomorrow.

We've been incredibly fortunate to have received just under our target of $3500 in donations for this family since our post last night, so we are financially ready to care for them. Thank you to and everyone else who donated towards their care.

Kennel Assistant required for Yaps Dog Shelter and Boarding Kennels in Smithfield
Approx 28 to 34 hours a week which will include some week end work
The goal of the Kennel Assistant is to keep the kennel facility running smoothly while ensuring the animals remain safe and well cared for.
Some specific duties include:
• - Cleaning the kennels and common areas
- Ability to move animals from kennels to exercise yards as well as large bags of food or other supplies
• - Observing animals and noting any concerns with their behaviour or health
- Customer service and communication skills, greeting customers with boarding dogs coming in and going home as well as the adoptions of shelter dogs
• Ability to understand and follow directions from other kennel staff
