👀 These photos show large beans recently removed during Pony Privates Services appointments. In both cases, the relief for the horses was immediate.

Beans and sm**ma build-up can develop in geldings and stallions of any age. When left unchecked, build-up may contribute to discomfort, irritation, swelling, odour, sensitivity, reluctance to be touched, changes in behaviour, and in some cases, difficulty urinating.

Routine sheath checks and cleaning are an important part of supporting your horse’s comfort, hygiene and overall welfare.

Pony Privates Services provides a calm, professional, sedation-free sheath cleaning service, with safe handling, patience and horse welfare as our priority.

This is why routine sheath checks matter.

These large “beans” were removed during a recent Pony Privates Services appointment. Build-up like this can cause discomfort, irritation, swelling, odour, sensitivity, and even difficulty urinating if left unchecked.

Many geldings and stallions don’t show obvious signs until the build-up becomes significant, so regular checks can make a big difference to their comfort.

We realised that after a few years of Pony Privates, it was probably time to properly introduce the faces behind the business — especially since a few clients have accidentally mixed us up along the way (being identical twins apparently doesn’t help 😅).

So hello — we’re Kara and Freya Vasylenko.

With backgrounds in veterinary nursing, animal health science, equestrian coaching, horse training, and equine handling, we created Pony Privates with a strong focus on calm, welfare-focused horse care and low-stress handling.

Kara holds an Honours degree in Animal & Veterinary Bioscience from the University of Sydney and has worked for several years within the veterinary industry as both a small animal and equine nurse. She is currently the Practice Manager of a Sydney veterinary clinic and brings extensive experience in professional animal care and horse handling.

Freya is an EA qualified and insured introductory horse riding coach with extensive experience in horse handling, rider education, and equine management. She is currently continuing her education through Certificate Level 1 and TRT training methods, focusing on calm, welfare-based horse training and communication.

Together, our combined science background, veterinary industry experience, and practical horse knowledge support a thoughtful, horse-first approach tailored to each individual horse.

Thank you to everyone who has supported Pony Privates so far — we’re incredibly grateful for the trust owners place in us and their horses. 🫶
