With temperatures across South Australia climbing into the high 30s and 40s this weekend, it’s the perfect time to remind everyone just how quickly our dogs can overheat. Even “mild” summer days can be dangerous for our pets, especially with strong sun and warm winds in the mix.

Dogs can develop heatstroke in minutes even during a short walk, a car ride, or time in the backyard without shade.

Some early warning signs include excessive panting, bright red gums, wobbliness, vomiting, or suddenly collapsing.

💛 Keep them safe by:
• Walk early morning or late evening
• Always provide shade and fresh water
• Never leave dogs in cars, even for a minute
• Know the signs of heat stress and act fast

Let’s enjoy the sunshine while keeping our furry family members cool, comfortable, and safe. Stay hydrated, stay shaded, and give your pups an extra splash of water this weekend! 🐾💦
