🦷 “It’s just a rasp”… or is it?
Two years ago, this horse had a diseased incisor that would traditionally have been extracted. Instead, after proper diagnosis, we performed a root canal treatment.
👉 Today? The tooth is still functional.
👉 The horse still has its full incisor arcade.
👉 And most importantly—its long-term comfort and performance are preserved.
This is what equine dentistry should be about.
Not just “floating teeth”…
But understanding why something is happening.
Because:
• Horses’ teeth are lifelong assets
• Loss of teeth = altered biomechanics, reduced efficiency, long-term issues
• Early diagnosis opens the door to restorative, life-preserving treatments
💡 Dentistry is not about removing problems.
It’s about preserving function.
At Davidson Veterinary, we strongly believe in:
✔️ Proper diagnostics
✔️ Evidence-based decision making
✔️ Treating teeth—not just filing them
And that’s why we partner with Dr Denis Verwilghen - a registered specialist in equine dentistry.
Because in the end…
No teeth = no horse.
