Leptospirosis is a serious and potentially fatal bacterial infection in dogs and other animals that can be spread to humans.

It is transmitted through the urine of infected wildlife (like rodents) and contaminates stagnant water, soil, and mud. The disease causes severe kidney and liver failure, requiring urgent veterinary care.

As the cold settles in, our pet’s arthritis can give them more trouble than normal.

Symptoms of arthritis:

*Mobility changes - stiffness/ limping

* Hesitation when rising from rest/ stairs/ jumping up onto objects

* Sleeping more than normal/ irritability or sensitive when touched in sore areas

* Licking or chewing specific areas / messy and matted coats

Plus many more

Things that can help at home:

* Placing non slip flooring to help with traction

* Weight management and diets

* Moving water and food bowls to make them easily accessible

* Raising feeders
