Love this

People tell me all the time, “You spend way too much time with your horses.”
They say it like it’s a problem. Like it’s something I should fix.

And maybe they’re right.
I am addicted.

But not just to riding.
Not just to training.
And not even just to horses themselves.

I’m addicted to the clarity that shows up when everything else gets quiet. I’m addicted to the honesty of an animal that can’t be fooled by words, excuses, or titles. Horses don’t care who you say you are — they respond to who you actually show up as.

That kind of feedback is uncomfortable for some people.
Because when you spend time with horses, you don’t just train them… you learn about yourself. Your timing. Your patience. Your leadership. Your ability to stay calm when things don’t go according to plan.

So no, it’s not an escape.
It’s accountability.

And once you experience that level of truth, it’s hard to go back to noise, distractions, and surface-level connection. That’s the addiction no one talks about — and the reason so many of us keep choosing the barn over the couch.

If any of this hits close to home, I’m breaking this down deeper in an upcoming webinar where I talk about why we really spend so much time with our horses — and what that says about who we’re becoming in the process.

is actually a calling.

Wow what a week we have had. Last night for the first time I got to watch our mare Chicky give birth to a beautiful filly. It was the most amazing night with the full moon unlike last week when Sioux gave birth to her filly right before two big storms ⛈️. Life on the farm and loving every minute of it 😍 at TenderFeel Horses

💥 How to Read a Horse’s Bloodlines (and What Most People Miss!)

A pedigree isn’t just a list of names, it’s the story of how ability, temperament and performance get passed down.
But many breeders overlook key clues hidden in plain sight 👇

🔹 The Sire Line
Tells you about athletic traits...speed, strength, style or cow sense.
👉 Example: Lil Nu It All = athletic, quick-footed, produces consistent performers.

🔹 The Dam Line (Bottom Side)
Shows heart, mind and consistency.
Strong dam lines often produce consistently trainable foals.

🔹 The Maternal Grandsire (Broodmare Sire)
A big influencer of balance, soundness and conformation.

⚠️ Common Mistakes People Make When Reading Pedigrees:

1. Only looking at the sire.
➤ The dam line is just as important. She contributes half the genetics and often defines temperament.

2. Ignoring the maternal grandsire.
➤ Many great crosses come from matching complementary broodmare sire traits, not just the top line.

3. Chasing famous names without purpose.
➤ A pedigree full of big names doesn’t guarantee a good cross.

4. Not studying what the family actually produces.
➤ A full brother or sister to a champion might not perform if the mare’s line doesn’t consistently produce.

5. Overlooking Australian results.
➤ Some imported lines cross differently on Aussie mares...check what’s proven locally too.

💬 Bottom line:
A good pedigree doesn’t just look impressive, it makes sense on paper and in the paddock.

Very appropriate song to be playing as Ken starts young Joes ground work. Every horse is unique and it takes the time it takes to get it right

Time…..you cannot rush your way through it. You’ve got to put the work in to get it right.

We do not own the rights to this song.
