Thank you, sweet Molly 🐰🐣.

This Easter Bunny delivered her gift early by donating blood to a critically ill patient who had unfortunately ingested rat bait ❌.

This was Mollys first donation; her owners were happy to help after her big sister was the recipient of blood donation many years ago ❤️

Wishing everyone a safe and Happy Easter break, remember to hide the chocolate from your furry Friends, even the smallest amount ingested can be dangerous ❌

Update on sweet Django!

Aside from removing his E-collar and chewing out his cannula a few times, Django continues to improve each day.
Unfortunately the paralysis has progressed and Django now has reduced gag reflex and muscle fatigue.
We are continuing to provide supportive care via IV fluids and hope that in the coming days his gag reflex returns and he can be reunited with his family 💙

MEET DJANGO - A 5yo male Cattle Dog X, presented to our clinic this morning with signs of tick paralysis 🏥

❌Unfortunately it’s the time of year where we are seeing an increase in tick paralysis cases here at Kiama Vets. We have had 3 just this week!

Signs of tick paralysis are delayed 3-5 days from when feeding begins!

Early signs include vocal changes, weakness in the rear legs, loss of appetite and vomiting/ retching.
These signs progress to paralysis of all four legs, coughing, laboured breathing and difficulty swallowing.

Death is caused by paralysis of the respiratory muscles and can occur within 24 hours of signs beginning.
Please be sure to check that your cats and dogs are up to date with their tick prevention.

If you are unsure about your pets current prevention status or would like some information on which product is best for your pet please contact our friendly staff.

Bravecto Quantum is now available for your canine friends! Enquire with our team on this new once a year injection against paralysis ticks!
