Sometimes it’s the simple features that make the biggest difference.

Our rump bars are designed with a quick-release mechanism — meaning if a horse ever gets into an awkward spot, you can release it instantly for safety. No fuss, no delay, just peace of mind when you need it most.

On top of that, they’re built strong, positioned right, and padded to keep both horses and handlers safe during use. It’s one of those little design details that trainers love because it just makes sense when you’re working with horses day in, day out.

Belt replacement day at Deniston Park 👊

Russ was out here giving one of their GG horse treadmills a new lease on life. This yard runs two treadmills, and they get absolutely hammered with the workload day in, day out.

Always great working with such longstanding customers who know the value of keeping their gear maintained and in top condition.

Front side barriers might seem like a small detail, but they make a big difference.

We designed ours to help horses stay focused in a forward direction - especially when they’re fresh or distracted - and to give trainers a bit more room to work safely alongside.

The curved, open design isn’t just for looks. It keeps movement smooth and reduces the chance of head knocks.

That’s the thinking behind every Artisan Equine treadmill - built for real use, by people who actually use them.

The belt system is one of the most important parts of any horse treadmill — and we’ve built ours to work hard, last longer, and protect the horse while doing it.

Underneath the belt sits our Artisan Equine Impact Reduction System (AE-IRS) — the most advanced cushioning setup you’ll find on any treadmill in Australia. It’s designed to absorb impact and reduce strain on joints and tendons, especially important for galloping horses working at speed, under load, or for young horses whose bone density is still developing.

A key part of the AE-IRS is the ultra high-tech wear surface we import exclusively for our treadmills. It’s tougher than mild steel, won’t melt like HDPE, and gives the belt a smooth, durable base that keeps performance consistent over years of use.

And when it’s time for a belt replacement? Trainers don’t need to rely on third-party splicing or external companies — we can handle it quickly, anywhere in Australia and New Zealand. That means less downtime, better machine control, and more confidence every time you put a horse on.

Why we’re now recommending regular oil replacements for horse walkers.

Many gearboxes come labelled as “fill for life.” But here’s the truth - oil doesn’t last forever. Over time, even sealed systems are exposed to heat, contamination, and wear that break the oil down.

Once the oil loses its viscosity and protective properties, internal components - like bearings and gearsets - begin to fail. When that happens, the result is costly.

During one of our recent maintenance visits, we pulled apart a gearbox that showed clear signs of failure, with oil leaking through the shaft and bearings. It was beyond saving . The difference between the old and fresh oil speaks for itself.

We now recommend oil replacement as part of our regular service offering for horse walkers and other horse equipment - because preventative maintenance will always cost less than major repairs.

If your walker’s due for a check-up or you’re unsure about the condition of your gearbox oil, give us a call on 0431 437 127 or send a message.

We wrapped up a two-day service run with stop number four at Leneva Park a top-notch pre-training facility managed by Sarah Beaumont.

This Artisan Equine horse treadmill sees some of the highest daily use of any unit we’ve built, maintained or seen - and it just keeps delivering.

Sarah’s mentioned more than once how pleased they’ve been with the performance and safety, especially compared to their last treadmill, and how the horses are moving beautifully on it.

Reliable, consistent, and built for high-output environments like this one.

Ryan met an old friend of mine last week - this HorseGym treadmill was actually the very first unit I ever worked on. Would you believe that?

That was years ago, back in the HorseGym days, when Rob asked me to lend a hand on a full overhaul. Safe to say, that job kicked off our whole journey with HorseGym equipment.

So last week, Charles got in touch about a noise in the machine. We had a few chats and suspected it might be a costly repair. But it turned out to be minor - always a relief when you can keep things simple and costs down.

Ryan went out there in absolutely horrible weather but it all went well.

The horse treadmill is now running well and should be good for another 6–12 months before its next service.

Always good catching up with Charles—he’s a top bloke and has been with us from the early days.

Even the smallest parts - like the coupling material - can make a big difference in how a horse treadmill performs. That’s why we take these details seriously when putting together every Artisan Equine horse treadmill.

Depending on spec, we’re running either an 11kW or a 15kW heavy-duty motor to handle serious output, paired with a reduction gearbox to deliver smooth, controlled power to the drive roller and belt.

But here’s where it gets clever: between the two is a rubber coupling—and that’s doing more work than you’d think. As the horse gallops, the belt speeds up and slows down many times per second. That rubber coupling absorbs the shock from those rapid fluctuations, protecting the motor and gearbox, and the key in the roller from wear.

It’s the kind of thing most people won’t notice. But if you’re running a high-performance stable, you’ll know the difference in durability and ride quality - day in and day out.

We were out at Wayne Potter’s stables in Shepparton last week for a routine treadmill service.

Wayne is in the harness racing game and is one of the best customers to deal with - always sharp, responsive, and looks after his gear.

The horse treadmill’s back in shape and good to go - we’re always glad to support his setup.
