When Catherine and her partner first met Ruth at our shelter they knew that she’d be the perfect addition to their family.

“Ruth is now the quirkiest family member, she loves belly scratches and wakes us up with forehead kisses,” Catherine tells us.

Ruth also lives with her two fur siblings who were also adopted from the Home. “She loves to cuddle with Kyson, our dog and plays with Rex all night long.”

We couldn’t be happier for Ruth and her new family, we have so many animals just like her who are hoping to find their forever homes, head to dogshome.com for more information.

121 days ago Polly came into our care frightened and alone.

Three year old Polly is a shy girl who is looking for a family who will be patient with her and give her time and space to come out of her shell. Once she warms up, Polly is truly the sweetest, smoochiest girl you’ll ever meet, she loves cuddles and loves her favourite humans.

Polly has told us she will be able to go home with another calm natured dog pending a successful meet and greet. She also told us that the fastest way to earn her trust is with lots of treats - this will help her build some basic skills while she settles into her new home.(And who would say no to treats?!)

If this wonderful girl sounds like this one for you, please head down to our North Melbourne shelter during opening hours and make Polly’s dreams come true.

Harry (formerly known as Trump) is a dog whose story touched hearts everywhere. After being left alone for months on a balcony in filthy, lonely conditions with minimal human contact, Harry came into care frightened, confused, and unsure how to be a dog He's looking for the special person or family who can help him continue his journey toward a happy, secure life.

Harry is a bouncy, energetic boy who loves to chase a ball, play with soft toys, and soak up human attention when he feels comfortable. He's not particularly food motivated, but his enthusiasm for play and people shines through once he feels safe. Harry finds it hard to settle at times - he paces, and he may urine-mark (indoors and outdoors) when anxious. These behaviours are his way of coping with stress, and they will take time, patience, and consistent guidance to improve.

Harry is:
dog-friendly (best matched with another exuberant, well-matched dog)
could happily live in a home with another dog, with cats, and with children over the age of 5 who can respect his space when he needs it and are also not easily knocked over when Harry goes into zoomie-mode.

It's important to understand Harry will need ongoing behavioural rehabilitation, and his new family must be prepared for the challenges - and the rewards - of helping him heal. He deserves a home that sees his potential and is willing to work with him every step of the way.

The Lost Dogs' Home is here to support you throughout this journey. Harry's adoption fee includes mandatory, ongoing behaviour training sessions and a consultation with our Behaviour Vet, ensuring you have professional guidance and a clear plan to help Harry adjust and succeed in his new home.

Please copy the link below and fill in the application form to register your interest in adopting Harry. We expected a high number of applications so please be patient while we work through them.
