With Tropical Cylcone Alfred about to descend on parts of Brisbane, it's important to make preparations now, before the worst of it hits.
Here's how to prepare for wild weather & emergency conditions:
βͺοΈ Check your pet's microchip at petaddress.com.au (contact your vet or the rescue you adopted from if you can't find their chip number). If you were registered with HomeSafeID, it's imperative to register with a valid new database. We recommend , .micro, PetSafe.com.au or Australasian Animal Registry. Keep a copy of your chip certificate on your phone/in your emergency kit.
βͺοΈ Create an emergency kit with food, water, medications, comfort items, hygiene (poo bags, wipes, litter) and first aid supplies.
βͺοΈ Create a safe space indoors and bring pets inside well before the storm hits.
βͺοΈMake an evacuation plan and be aware of your local pet-friendly shelters or emergency accommodation.
βͺοΈ Monitor weather updates, charge your powerbanks, never cross floodwaters and check in with friends, family and neighbours in high risk areas.
