Real care for the soil makes our produce taste exceptional. Wish I could show you this IRL but hopefully you can see here. Can’t believe how the soil looks and feels right now!!! Makes me very happy 😃

At the lab a year ago this soil measured over 7% organic matter and 4.5% carbon, at approx 20-30cm down.

This is the one position in our rotation where we have two cover crops in a row. At any one time on the farm we have 25% of the farm in cover crop, warm and cool season.

We sowed 12 species via clay balls here. I can see most germinating, but not all. It fascinates me to see one rotting down while simultaneously the other emerges.

Cover crops are sacrificial, preceding the crop we’ll eat, and it’ll contribute to it being of very high quality.

Shallots! In my opinion the best on the market 😉 We grow ours in soil that is truly cared for and that’s been certified organic for a long time.

These shallots are described as the banana type, and are grown from seed, instead of bulb sets. This variety is also called crème brûlée.

Beautiful flavour profile with an easy prep due to their size. We’re storing LOADS of these through the winter.

Exploring the farm - tomato fly through ✈️ Begins at mixed species cover crop, stepping past the Jerusalem artichoke windbreak, into tomatoes interplanted with herbs. Some rhubarb spotted too. It’s been a rough season for the tomatoes, late frost and extreme heat coupled with strong wind has made their life hard, and much less productive, but they’re hanging in for a late flush 🍅

I've started a crowdfunding campaign to help my neighbour purchase a new tractor and I'd love your support!

As you can see, their beloved tractor recently burst into flames ‼️ during a lightning storm. We can't be sure that it was struck by lightning, but it seems likely ⚡️What are the chances!

Please check out the link in Remi's bio to donate. If you could share this with your network, both online and IRL, that would be amazing 🚜❤️

Thanks for your help!
