* BRTs were originally bred by the Soviet military as highly capable working dogs. They have a strong, innate guarding instinct and are naturally protective of their family and territory.
* They are fearless and confident, making them an impressive deterrent to potential intruders.
* Profound Loyalty and Affection:
* This breed forms an extremely close and devoted bond with its owners and family members.
* They love to be near their people and thrive on shared living space and activities. While they may be aloof with strangers, they are affectionate and gentle with their "pack."
* High Intelligence and Trainability:
* Black Russian Terriers are highly intelligent and possess a strong desire to learn and please.
* They respond exceptionally well to consistent, positive reinforcement training. Their intelligence makes them great candidates for various canine sports like obedience, agility, and even search and rescue.
* Calm and Self-Assured Temperament:
* Despite their large size and protective nature, a well-socialized BRT is known for its calm, tranquil, and self-assured demeanor within the home.
