About Blue Mountains Animal Care Centre (BMACC)

Blue Mountains City Council opened the Blue Mountains Animal Care Centre (BMACC) in July 2024. RSPCA NSW transferred ownership of the Mort Street Animal Care Facility and land to Council after reaching an agreement that includes a 20-year covenant, to protect the site’s ongoing use as a local animal care and rehoming shelter. It is a significant com

mitment by Council to animal welfare. Services are being rolled out in stages. Initially, Council will continue to provide a best practice impounding function. 📢KENNELS CLOSED for 2 weeks🩺
Sorry our kennels are CLOSED to all visitors and adoptions for 2 weeks from today 26th Sept to 10th October -minimum.
🐾We are working very hard to contain an outbreak of Kennel Cough that has come in with a stray dog and to prevent it spreading.
🐾Kennel Cough is highly contagious but luckily not life threatening for the dogs- a bit like a bad cold for humans.
🐾We will try our hardest to keep the dogs happy and occupied during this time.
🐾We hope our dogs will make full and quick recoveries and be ready to go to their new homes very soon.
😔We know this sucks- right when the school holidays are here and we have some great dogs ready to be adopted! 😔

Q: Can you still help with stray dogs during the lockdown?
A: Yes, we will keep new strays in a separate area until they can be reunited with their people.

Q: Can we still view the dogs for adoption?
A: Sorry we can't let you meet the dogs as you may accidentally take kennel cough home with you. We are happy to chat to you about them , maybe organise a video meet and greet or organise for you to visit as soon as the lockdown is over.

Q: Is the cattery still open?
A: Yes!

Q: I'm a volunteer, should I still come?
A: If you have your own dogs at home you may wish to wait until the outbreak is over. If you are still willing to help you'll need to take some extra hygiene precautions. Our dogs still need TLC😊

Do you have room in your life (and on your couch) for 45kg of pure boofhead of joy? Meet Trigger – a 4-year-old Labrador cross boy with a big heart and an even bigger love for life! 💛

Trigger is a happy, affectionate dog who loves kids, sunshine, and food (especially treats!). He’s strong on lead, loves being around people, and is best suited to an active family home.

🐾 About Trigger:
✅ 4 years old
✅ Desexed, microchipped & vaccinated
✅ Labrador cross – approx. 45kg of cuddly muscle
✅ LOVES food, pats, and playing
✅ Enjoys kids and some other animals (but not suited to shy cats)
✅ Too boisterous for children under 12 due to his strength
✅ Needs consistent training & daily socialisation

🐕 Trigger would make an amazing family dog with someone who can give him time, structure, and love. He has lived with children and other pets before and just needs help polishing up his manners. With a bit of training and attention, Trigger will be the ultimate loyal companion!

🌞 He also loves soaking up the sun, so if you’ve got a sunny backyard, that’s a big bonus!

Three things to do this weekend to help local needy animals....

🐾 pop an extra pack of dog or cat treats in your shopping trolley and donate them to Blue Mountains Animal Care Centre - BMACC our residents will be very grateful!

🐈 search out that old cat carrier you don't use anymore and donate it to us to help another pet get home safely.

🐕 visit BMACC to meet our adoptable pets- you might just fall in love ❤️

APOLOGIES POWER outage and temporary closure today.

Heidi is an adorable friendly and good-natured young cat.
A typical teenager, she is social, cuddly and very playful.
Heidi suffered an illness as a kitten which has left her with a sensitive digestion
