About Blue Mountains Animal Care Centre (BMACC)

Blue Mountains City Council opened the Blue Mountains Animal Care Centre (BMACC) in July 2024. RSPCA NSW transferred ownership of the Mort Street Animal Care Facility and land to Council after reaching an agreement that includes a 20-year covenant, to protect the site’s ongoing use as a local animal care and rehoming shelter. It is a significant com

mitment by Council to animal welfare. Services are being rolled out in stages. Initially, Council will continue to provide a best practice impounding function. 🌺 ADOPT PIXIE 🌺

Meet Pixie, a beautiful 3-year-old calico cat with an adorable face and plenty of love to share with the right person. 💕

Pixie is currently in foster care, where she has shown just how sweet and affectionate she can be. She is shy around new people and often prefers to hide until she feels safe and has had time to build trust. Once she does, she becomes a loving companion who enjoys curling up beside her favourite people.

This lovely girl is also chatty and playful. She enjoys toys and often gets the zoomies. While she may need time to warm up, earning Pixie’s trust is incredibly rewarding.

Pixie would thrive in a quiet indoor home where she can settle in at her own pace and continue building confidence.

😍 Adoption Update: Marshmallow the cat

From Marshmallow's (now Cloud) new mum:

"Cloud has settled in VERY well, he demands cuddles and pats frequently and he's getting along really well with his brother! He and his brother love to do chasing every morning and night, and Cloud loves scratching on his many scratching posts around the house! He is very demanding of food and has gotten several bites of our dinner when we looked away momentarily - he has incredibly fast reflexes! We love Cloud's lack of table manners - it's part of his charm!
Thank you so much for all of your help in bringing us our newest family member 🤗"

We LOVE to hear how our adoptees are getting on in thier new homes. It makes our hearts happy to hear stories like Marshmallows- well done to his new mum 💕

Thanks to the incredible generosity of our community, our pet op shop is still overflowing with donated dog coats of all shapes, sizes, and styles.

If your dog could use a little extra warmth this winter, or simply deserves a new look, drop in and choose a coat free of charge. No dog should go cold this winter in the Blue Mountains!

🐶 Dog coats are FREE though donations are always welcome, especially treats for our shelter dogs and cats.

Meet Jax — a lovely petite 12 month-old tuxedo Domestic Shorthair girl with a gentle nature and lots of love to give. Found as a stray, this sweet young princess is now looking for a calm and caring forever home where she can continue to grow in confidence and feel safe and loved. ❤️

Jax is very friendly and affectionate, though she can still be a little shy at first while she adjusts to new surroundings. Once she feels comfortable, she enjoys cuddles, companionship, and quiet affection from her people.

Still a young cat with some growing and learning to do, Jax would do best in a calm home environment with someone who has some cat experience and can give her the patience and reassurance she needs to truly blossom into the wonderful companion she is becoming.
