🌧️🐾 A little winter appreciation post 🐾💜

It’s cold, it’s wet, it’s windy, and some days it feels like winter is really giving us everything it’s got! 😂🥶

But rain, hail or shine, we’re still out here every morning, every afternoon and every night, making sure our Dusty Paws guests are warm, comfortable, fed, loved and very well cared for. 🐶💜

There are definitely days when pulling on the wet-weather gear and heading back out into the cold isn’t particularly appealing 😂… but the second we’re greeted by wagging tails and excited faces, it’s worth it.

Caring for someone’s much-loved dog while they’re away is something we’ve never taken lightly. Our clients trust us with a member of their family, and being the people they choose to do that is genuinely a privilege.

So while the rain keeps falling and winter keeps doing its thing, we’ll keep doing ours. 💜🐾

Because our guests are counting on us! And they deserve the very best, whatever the weather. 🌧️🐕💜

🐾 WE'RE HIRING: DOG KENNEL ATTENDANT 🐾

Dusty Paws Dog Boarding (located just out of Kadina) is looking for another reliable team member to join our wonderful crew.

Working with dogs is incredibly rewarding, but we'd like to be completely honest about the reality of the job.
This is not a position where you spend all day cuddling puppies.
Some days are relaxed, while others are fast-paced, physically demanding and stressful. It's loud when the dogs are excited. It's messy. You'll be cleaning. You'll be outside in the cold during winter and the heat during summer. You'll be on your feet for most of the shift, lifting, bending, walking and working hard.
If you don't think you'll enjoy that environment, this probably isn't the right job for you.

We're looking for someone who genuinely wants to be here and is prepared to commit. We simply don't have the time to invest in training someone only to have them decide after a few shifts that it's too cold, too noisy or too messy.

What we're looking for:

🐾 Reliable and committed
🐾 Physically fit and capable of manual work
🐾 Calm, patient and compassionate
🐾 Confident handling dogs of all sizes, breeds and personalities
🐾 Friendly and professional with our clients as well as their dogs
🐾 Able to think on your feet and make good decisions when needed
🐾 Able to follow instructions, work independently and complete all tasks on time
🐾 Willing to help cover additional shifts when possible
🐾 A strong work ethic

💲 Pay: $27 per hour

Typical shift times:
🕢 Morning: 7:30am – 10:30am
🕑 Afternoon: 2:00pm – 5:30pm
(Shift times may vary slightly depending on boarding numbers.)

Poor Odin needs a new home. We are sharing for his current carer. If anyone would like to arrange a meet with him, let us know and we'll pass on her number!

Meet Odin 🐾🐶🦴
2 years old

This isn’t Odin’s fault. He’s a good boy who’s run out of time. We have to find him a safe home NOW.

Odin was on trial, through no fault of his own, they decided that they didn’t have enough time for him.

Odin at a glance:
Good with kids - best with older kids due to size/strength
Loves cuddles and attention, very affectionate
Loves walks - needs daily exercise
Toilet trained indoors but currently living outside
Strong on lead - needs someone committed to training
Needs socialisation and structure

Odin now has a special harness that helps that he doesn’t pull.

Why he’s being rehomed:
Odin currently lives with his mum and younger kids. She’s made the tough, loving call that he needs a home that can give him the time, training, and exercise he deserves.

Ideal home:
Active person, couple, or family with older children, who has time for walks, training, and play. Best with someone experienced with strong breeds or willing to learn. A home that loves the outdoors would be perfect for him.

💜 SNOW HAS FOUND HIS FOREVER HOME! 💜

After 49 nights with us, our beautiful boy has finally packed his bags and headed off to the life he deserves.
To say we're going to miss him feels like the biggest understatement.

When Snow first arrived, none of us imagined he'd be here for 49 nights. Day by day he became part of the Dusty Paws family. We celebrated his little wins, learnt all of his funny quirks, handed out endless cuddles, scratched all of his favourite spots, and poured so much of ourselves into making sure he felt safe, loved and never alone while he waited for his special person.
As anyone who's followed his journey knows, Snow's perfect home wasn't going to be just any home. He needed to be the only animal, with someone around for most of the day who could give him all the love and attention he craved.
And somehow... that's exactly what he found.
We couldn't have wished for a more perfect match.

There were definitely a few tears as he walked out the gate, but they were happy tears. The kind that come from knowing a dog who waited so patiently has finally found exactly where he belongs.

While rescue isn't our business or our area of expertise, it has been an absolute honour to care for Snow and Red, and to play such a big part in helping them find their forever families. Watching both of these beautiful boys leave for homes where they'll be cherished is something we'll never forget.

To Snow's new family... thank you for choosing him. We already know he's going to fill your home with so much love, laughter and the occasional Staffy-sized cuddle. 💜
We can't wait to see the updates, the adventures, the couch photos, and all the happy moments still to come.
Be happy, sweet boy. You'll always have a special place in our hearts, and there will always be a little piece of Dusty Paws that belongs to you.

💜 THE BEST NEWS EVER! 💜

After 42 nights with us here at Dusty Paws, our beautiful boy Red has finally found his forever home... and not only that, he's found a brand new best friend too! 🥹❤️
We honestly couldn't have wished for a more perfect match. His new dad is everything we hoped Red would find, and watching them together made it so obvious they were meant to be.
Red was so excited that he could barely wait to jump into the car to head off on his new adventure! 😂🐾

To say we're going to miss him is an understatement.
Everyone here at Dusty Paws absolutely fell in love with Red. How could we not? He is one of the sweetest, kindest, most loving dogs we've ever had the privilege of caring for. There were plenty of happy tears today... and maybe a few sad ones too. After 42 nights, it's impossible not to become attached.
We did everything we could to make sure he felt safe, loved and spoiled while he was with us. We gave him all the cuddles, playtime and affection he could handle, hoping to soften the heartbreak of losing the only home he'd ever known. But no matter how much love we could give him, it's never quite the same as having a family and a place to truly call your own.
Seeing him leave today with his tail wagging, ready to start his new life, filled our hearts in a way that's hard to put into words. This is exactly why we did what we did 💜

Now all that's left is for us to keep everything crossed that our gorgeous boy Snow finds a forever family just as incredible. He deserves his own happy ending too, and we know the perfect person is out there waiting for him.
Congratulations, Red. We love you more than you'll ever know, and we can't wait to watch your new adventure unfold. ❤️🐾
