Halfmile Leaella 🤍
Today I said goodbye to Halfmile Leaella, my beautiful Ella, the mare on whom Cagra Park was built.
Ella was the foundation of my stud, and her legacy lives on through her progeny and grandprogeny, including some of the very best horses I have bred. So much of what Cagra Park is today can be traced back to her, and I will always be incredibly proud of what she gave me as a broodmare.
But Ella was so much more than what she produced.
She was one of those rare horses who was every bit as beautiful on the inside as she was on the outside, and she truly was beautiful. She had a presence and a kindness that made her incredibly special, and no pedigree, show result or list of progeny could ever adequately describe what she meant to me.
Her influence will continue for generations, and I will see a little piece of her in the horses she has left behind. There will never be another Ella, but there will always be a part of her here at Cagra Park.
The end of an era, and the loss of a very special mare who takes a piece of my heart with her.
Rest peacefully, beautiful Ella. You were the beginning of so much, and you will never be forgotten. 🤍
