Where it all started....
I, Alicia, have been around horses, mostly Arabians, my whole life.
My mother, Sue Kavanagh had horses when she was a kid, conning her very non horsey parents into buying her a pony called Snowy. This progressed into two more horses, Galloway's called Kelly & Tammy (Heatherton Lady) which she dabbled in showing with.
After my mum married & had me she purchased a Partbred mare called Arnurna who she bred to Euclid which produced a chestnut c**t, Booligal Park Beerwon in 1981.
In 1982 my mum purchased a young grey Purebred Stallion called Jasir (Dessertlite X Talquah Jaala). He produced 3 foals before he was gelded due to serve trauma he received after my mum sent him to a 'highly recommended' horse breaker who did horrendous things to poor Jasir. Unfortunately he could never be ridden safely after mum got him home. Jasir was always a super quiet stallion so it goes without saying that he would be the perfect teacher for me when I started showing Arabians.
My first Arabian show was the 1983 Victorian Arabian Classic in the youngest junior handler class (under 9 years maybe...) All the handler classes had big numbers in those days & thanks to Jasir I was awarded 2nd & again in 1984. Jasir gave me a good solid foundation & I won many classes with him. He had been halter trained by Paul & Norma Walker & was so well trained he knew the drill & when I said whoa, he set himself up & made me look good!
Jasir was with us right up until his passing in 2002.
