It’s BIG ANNOUNCEMENT time. Rotary Adelaide Central has launched a new community service project:
The Giant Hay Bales Appeal to Save SA Livestock.
Thanks to a lengthy drought, farmers across South Australia are in desperate straits trying to source and afford feed for their Sheep, Cattle, Horses and more.
Rotary Adelaide Central (RAC) is working with the Farmers Relief Agency and PIRSA to urgently deliver more than 1,000 whopping big round bales of hay (as pictured) to drought affected farms across this state.
The first truck load of 32 bales ($3,520 worth) left Victoria yesterday and arrived in Orroroo in the mid-North, today. More will be on the road shortly.
RAC is fundraising to purchase lots more hay, Farmers Relief Agency is sourcing the feed and coordinating delivery, and the South Australian Government (via PIRSA) is covering the freight costs.
This project is registered with RAWCS - Rotary Australia World Community Service, which has tipped in funds to get the first loads of hay on to trucks and on the move.
Our website has lots more project information, plus a link for farmers to register to receive hay. Go to: https://rotaryadelaidecentral.org.au/projects/save-sa-farmers-livestock-giant-hay-bales-appeal
