🎄 Keeping Cats Calm This Christmas 🎄

Christmas can be a wonderful time… but for our feline friends, it can also mean changed routines, extra visitors, noise, and disruption 🥱 and cats definitely notice 👀🐾

Two products we often recommend to help support calm behaviour during busy periods are:

✨ Royal Canin Calm (Cat) – a specially formulated diet designed to support emotional balance and digestive health during times of stress or change.
✨ Zylkene Plus – a natural supplement that can help cats cope with challenging or unfamiliar situations, such as visitors, parties, or changes at home.

Whether you’ve got guests coming and going, kids home from school, or just a house that feels a little louder than usual, these can be a helpful addition to your cat’s routine over the Christmas period 🎁🐱

If you’re unsure whether either option is right for your cat, have a chat with our team — we’re always happy to help you plan ahead for a calmer, happier festive season.

💙 From all of us at Brassall Vet Surgery, here’s to a stress-free Christmas for cats (and their humans!)

Jenkins popped in yesterday for an ultrasound with Dr Jem… and was the bestest boy the entire time 💙

He spent a few hours hanging out at the clinic, supervising staff, soaking up cuddles, laying in every doorway (literally every doorway!) and even shared his lunch break with Tara 🥪🐶
Then his mum came to pick him up and his workday was officially over.

10/10 patient.
12/10 good boy energy.

Happy Thursday ✨

🍇🍫 Thursday Tales From the Treatment Room!

Today’s episode features two dogs with questionable snack choices… and two humans wondering how their day went downhill so quickly. 😂

🍇 Winnie vs. The Grape

Winnie ate ONE grape.
Just one.
Her dad then realised the grapes he’d bought 🤯 $18 worth of them!! 🤯probably shouldn’t have been anywhere near a dog in the first place. 😅

Grapes: $18
Vet bill: … more than $18
Lesson learned: Grapes are toxic to dogs 😬 whether it’s one or ten. Keep them up high unless you enjoy surprise vet trips and expensive fruit.

🍫 Frankie vs. Chocolate

And then there’s Frankie…
Who decided to celebrate his mum’s birthday by sneaking a few squares of chocolate. 🎉🍫
Not the kind of “treat” she had in mind, but we love the enthusiasm.

He is currently regretting every life choice that led him to this moment.
Zero stars. Would not recommend. 🐶😵

Chocolate is toxic to dogs ❌ even in small amounts, so keep the birthday goodies for the humans only.

💛 Both pups are expected to be just fine, and as always:
If your dog eats something they shouldn’t, give Brassall Vet Surgery a call straight away.
We’ve got your back… and your dog’s stomach.

Duchess was the goodest girl today! 💉🐶

This clever girl came in for her six-month booster injection and absolutely nailed it. 🙌

You can see from that happy face, this is a good place for her!

Because Duchess is a Puppy Preschool graduate (and currently graduating from Prep this week 🎓), she already knows that visits to the vet mean friendly faces, yummy treats, and her favourite trainer Tara waiting to say hello. 👋

When early training and positive experiences go hand-in-hand, vet visits become something dogs can genuinely enjoy, not just tolerate 💛

Well done, Duchess 💕 you made everyone’s day a little brighter! ☀️

Recognise this pretty face? 🩺💗

That’s Malibu, the star of our Bark n Bounce training posters (yes, the dog on the sign!) - owned and run by our very own Tara (often the one handing out the treats!) and Malibu is also one of our favourite visitors.

She popped in today for her suture removal after desexing, and we’re happy to report she’s healed beautifully and ready to get back to her usual zoomies! 🐾

At Brassall Vet Surgery, all desexing procedures include:
✔️ A 3-day and 10-day post-op check
✔️ Take-home pain relief
✔️ A team who loves seeing happy tails like Malibu’s!

💛 Great care, familiar faces, and a whole lot of tail wags ,that’s the Brassall Vet way.
