Oriole has had a lovely day 💛

A New Chapter Begins for Stan

This week marks the beginning of Stan’s training journey, and what a start it’s been. Like all young horses here at Mount Walker Haflingers, his first lesson isn’t about movement or fancy maneuvers—it’s about stillness.

Stan has been introduced to the patience post, where he’s learning one of the most underrated skills a horse can develop: the ability to wait quietly, observe, and settle. It might seem like a small thing, but it lays the groundwork for everything that comes next—trust, focus, and resilience.

Alongside this, Stan is becoming part of the daily rhythm of the property. Whether it’s standing tied while we go about chores, watching the other horses work, or simply soaking in the atmosphere, he’s learning that life here has a steady pace and purpose.

We’re in no rush. The journey of a good horse is built step by step, and Stan’s taking his first ones with calm curiosity.
