Bunurong Wildlife Care (BWC) is holding a garden party at 'Wyngarra', a homestead in Kilcunda, on Saturday, 7 March to raise funds for vital pathology testing. Local wines, canapes, great musicians and interesting people like yourself will be part of the event. There will also be a raffle.

The main speaker will take us through the role and importance of pathology testing while there will also be information about the BWC and what you can do, as an individual, to provide help for an injured animal and where to seek assistance.

BWC is a wildlife shelter based in Inverloch. It is a registered charity and relies on public support via donations to pay the costs of wildlife in its care. BWC has cared for 189 animals and birds in the last 12 months. Some of these stay overnight while others may take up to 2 years to be appropriately rehabilitated and reintroduced to the wild.

Wildlife rehabilitators use pathology to identify disease in animals to help develop a care plan for their rehabilitation. Sometimes it is difficult to determine why an animal is failing to thrive despite all the best care they are given, and this is why pathology is so important. Pathology testing also helps identify zoonotic disease (illness that can be passed to humans) which helps keep the carers safe.

However pathology testing is costly but the benefits can save lives and the lives of other wildlife in care. It also helps protect other species and ecosystems when the animals are rehabilitated and reintroduced into the wild. Donations will fund diagnostic tools, lab supplies and provide expert pathology analysis that safeguards wildlife.

Details and registration can be made through the website: https://bunurongwildlifecare.au/fundraiser Donations may also be made through this site

Wildlife rehabilitators use pathology to understand and identify disease in animals in their care and, at times, a cause of death. This involves applying diagnostic pathology to monitor animals for signs of illness, so that a rehabilitation care plan can be developed. Pathology can also identify zoo...

Hi Community, please put water out today for our local wildlife!

Really important walking doggies please use your leads. Koalas will come down to the ground today seeking out water and cooler zones.

Last year on a similar day to this Koalas came into care unconscious and dehydrated.

Possums also need elevated water as well as water out in all sorts of vessels to allow access and safe exits.

Water bowls need shade!!

Thanks from Bunurong Wildlife Care.@

It is such a priviledge to be able to say 'goodbye' to the wildlife that comes into care for a second chance to live their life.

We care for wildlife that is ill and injured, but also like the sweet wombie here known as Eddi who was orphaned.

Thankyou Eddi's care team as she leaves Bunurong Wildlife Care to her next/last rehab phase....learning to dig really big burrows before release back to her 'forever home'.

Sometimes its OK to go for a B and B....Still loving our humidcrib thanks Warriors 4 Wildlife
