Last year during the drought we, like many others were forced to sell some treasured horses. Fortunatley for us - Watchirs Rooster and Watchirs Holly found an outstanding home (and grass) in Tasmania with the Scott family.
Bought sight unseen and in drought condition on the recommendation of reputable breeder and competitor Iain Hyde Rooster and Holly made the trip across and it is safe to say, landed on their hooves!
Father Andrew and daughters Matilda and Charlotte enjoy a diverse range of equine sports including polocrosse, hunts, cattleman's challenges, pony club, stock horse events and ODE's having much success in all of them.
True to form Rooster is highly sought after, meant for Andrew - Charlotte and boyfriend Will were often riding him as well. It was whilst sidelined watching daughters line out against each other in the B grade final that Andrew remarked to the coach that perhaps they needed another horse. Coincidentally this coach's nephew Fraser Hughes has bred many good polocrosse horses by Watchirs Star and had one for sale back here in Inverell. The Scott family acquired Aspect and a few months later, Charlotte's partner Will contacted us hopeful that we had another Rooster. We did not unfortunately, however we did have a lovely mare, Watchirs Bella who has now also made the trip across the bass strait to be Will's mare.
Some results include Matilda and Holly winning the open utility at a Tassie stock horse day shortly after arriving.
Aspect was called up at his first carnival when Holly went out lame and was awarded best #2 in B grade.
At the Tasmanian mountain cattleman association get together, Rooster won the walking race and Holly was the highest placed ASH in the senior championship.
And Bella and Will made ABC rural headlines for bringing the snow a short while ago π
We look forward to sharing their experiences and success with them and are so very grateful that these horses have found such great homes! Wishing them all the best for their futures π
