Friday Special !!

This is โ€œDee.โ€ Dee presented to us for a hard lump in the Cheek.

After some investigation we were able to determine โ€œDeeโ€ had a stone in her salivary gland known as a Sialolith and under a standing sedation we were able to surgically remove it.

We donโ€™t see sialoliths very often in horses, but they usually occur when foreign material (I.e grass seeds) migrates into the salivary duct.

We wish โ€œDeeโ€ a speedy recovery.

Happy Friday !!

๐ŸŒ A milestone moment for Vets Beyond Borders

In April 2026, weโ€™ll be deploying our first-ever veterinary team to Papua New Guinea โ€” expanding our work across the Pacific to reach communities with limited access to animal care.

Weโ€™re especially proud to share that vet nurse Helen Spry will be part of this team โ€” embarking on her 12th VetMatch deployment and recently named the inaugural recipient of the Buddy Giving Program Volunteer Excellence Award ๐Ÿ†

From the Cook Islands to Vanuatu, Fiji to Nauru, Helen has dedicated years to improving animal welfare in some of the regionโ€™s most challenging environments โ€” and now PNG is next.

๐Ÿ’ฌ โ€œThe work I do with VBB makes a difference. Itโ€™s a privilege to be part of it.โ€ โ€“ Helen

In PNG, Helen and the team will work alongside RSPCA of PNG, delivering vital veterinary care, training, and community education.

๐Ÿพ Why this matters
In many communities, limited access to veterinary services means animals face preventable disease, injury, and overpopulation. Programs like VetMatch focus on desexing, treatment, and education โ€” creating lasting change for both animals and people.

This deployment has been made possible through the Buddy Giving Program. The program is supported by Buddy Pet Insurance and helps us reach more communities across the Asia-Pacific.

We couldnโ€™t be prouder of Helen and this incredible team as they take this next step ๐Ÿ’™
