Meet our client services superstar, Kara ✨🐾 — and what better time to celebrate her than Veterinary Receptionist Week!

Kara joined the Huon Valley team in August 2025 as a Client Services Officer, bringing with her a background in wildlife rehabilitation and customer service. She holds both a Certificate II and III in Animal and Wildlife Care and is always eager to keep learning.

Kara found her passion in the animal healthcare industry, where she gets the best of both worlds — helping people while also caring for their beloved pets.

She’s pictured here with her beautiful 13-year-old greyhound, Benji 🐕 — her loyal companion who’s grown up alongside her.

Outside of work, Kara enjoys reading, painting, bushwalks, and spending time playing board games with friends and family.

If you’ve visited us, chances are you’ve already met Kara at the front desk — and during Veterinary Receptionist Week, we want to give a special shoutout to the incredible work she does. We’re so lucky to have her on our team 🩵

We’re excited to be bringing back our “Meet the Team” series! 🐾

With a few recent changes to our staff, we thought it was the perfect opportunity to reintroduce some familiar faces and warmly welcome our newer team members.

First up is Franzi 💙

Franzi joined the Huon Valley team in September 2024. Originally from Germany, she completed her veterinary nursing studies in beautiful Bavaria. Growing up in a small village on a farm, Franzi developed a deep love and connection with animals from a young age — something that naturally led her to pursue a career in veterinary nursing.

Her passion for caring for animals shines through in everything she does, and we feel so lucky to have her as part of our team.

Outside of work, Franzi loves spending quality time with her fiancé and friends. She’s happiest out in nature — whether that’s relaxing at the beach or heading up to Bothwell for camping and deer watching 🌿

🚨 Parvovirus alert – Southern Tasmania 🚨

We’re seeing an increase in parvovirus cases locally, and we want to help keep your dogs safe.

Parvo is a highly contagious and potentially fatal virus, especially in puppies and unvaccinated dogs. The good news? It’s preventable with vaccination.

✔️ Make sure your dog’s vaccinations are up to date (yearly boosters are essential)
✔️ If your dog is due or overdue, now is the time to book in
✔️ If your dog is showing signs like vomiting, diarrhoea, lethargy or not eating, please contact us immediately
