Just a cat and her emotional support Teddy 🧸

Bringing along a familiar blanket, toy, or item from home can be really comforting for pets during a hospital stay. The smell and feel of something they know helps reduce stress and anxiety, making them feel more secure in an unfamiliar environment. This little bit of home can make a big difference in helping them settle and recover 🐾🩵

🐾✨ Meet Huon ✨🐾

This adorable little guy popped into our clinic for a social visit – and he made himself right at home posing on the scales 🐶💙 Isn’t he gorgeous?

Social visits are such an important part of puppyhood! They help your pup:
✔️ Build positive associations with the clinic (lots of pats, cuddles & treats – no needles!)
✔️ Reduce stress and anxiety for future visits
✔️ Gain confidence with new people, smells, and sounds
✔️ Practice using the scales and having a little check-over in a fun way

We love seeing happy, wiggly pups like Huon – it sets them up for a lifetime of calmer, more confident vet visits. 🩺🐾

Has your pup had a social visit yet? We’d love to meet them! 💕

❄️🐾 Brrr… it’s cold out there! Even our Tasmanian wildlife are feeling the chill, just like this snow-covered wallaby.

With these icy mornings, don’t forget that our pets feel the cold too:
🐕 Provide warm, dry bedding away from draughts
🐈 Consider a jumper or coat for short-haired or senior pets
💧 Check water bowls aren’t frozen overnight
🏡 Keep older or arthritic pets inside where possible

If you notice your pet slowing down, shivering, or seeming stiff in the cold, give us a call — winter aches and chills can be managed, and we want them as comfortable as possible.

Stay warm and give your furry friends an extra cuddle tonight! 💙

🐾 Meet Olive! 🐾

This sweet girl recently had quite an ordeal where she accidentally got her tail caught in a door. This caused a nasty fracture. Sadly, her tail couldn’t be saved, so Olive came to us for surgery and plenty of TLC.

She’s been such a brave patient through her operation and all of her bandage changes. Now she’s back to her happy, cheeky self… just with a brand-new stumpy tail! 🩵

We’re so glad to see Olive healing well and enjoying life again. Please give this courageous little one some love! 🩵🐾

A lovely female Kelpie has been brought into us, registered under the name Maddie. 💕

Sadly, her microchip details are not up to date, so we haven’t been able to contact her family.

If you believe Maddie may be your dog, or you know who she belongs to, please get in touch with us as soon as possible so we can reunite her with her loved ones.

👉 Proof of ownership will be required.

Let’s help Maddie find her way back home 🐾n

🦷🐾 Why we take dental X-rays for pets 🐾🦷

When we look in your pet’s mouth, we only see the tip of the iceberg! Most of the tooth (and any problems) are hiding under the gums where we can’t see.

Take a look at these X-rays 👇

➡️ You can see dark “holes” in the teeth — In pets, this is usually tooth resorption or advanced dental disease, where the body actually breaks down the tooth from the inside out.

➡️ From the outside, these teeth didn’t look nearly this bad — but on X-ray we can see painful root disease, bone loss, and abnormal roots that could have been completely missed.

These conditions are very painful, even if your pet doesn’t show obvious signs 🐈‍⬛

That’s why dental X-rays are so important — they let us spot hidden problems, treat them properly, and keep your pet comfortable and healthy. 💙
