Emma's Dog Walking Services

Emma's Dog Walking Services With years of experience, I know that professional dog walking is more than just slapping a leash on a dog and hitting the streets.

I tailor my programs to best suit your dog, keep him/her safe and ensure that what we do really does show solid results. After years in the industry, I’ve worked with 1000s+ of dogs, of all ages, breeds, training levels and temperament. I tailor each walking, training and/or behavioural modification program to suit the needs/ability of each dog, with safety as my No. 1 priority. Many people don’t

realise just how easy it can be, to do more harm than good, by pushing dogs too far, using the wrong equipment or using it incorrectly, not reading a dog’s limits or inadvertently setting them to fail. There’s no substitute for experience and a commitment to ongoing education, in getting all the elements right. I will liaise with all pet care professionals in your dog's life to ensure that we work as a team, including your family, in order to improve both your own and your dog’s quality of life. If I encounter any issue that is outside my experience or ability I make it my policy to refer up to a trainer with more experience or a broader skills set, to ensure that you and your dog receive the best support for your individual situation. FULLY INSURED, UP-TO-DATE FIRST AID CERTIFICATE, POLICE CHECKS AND REFERENCES AVAILABLE ON REQUEST.

💔 Sensory Neuropathy (Border Collie Type)

The Border Collie Club of QLD also states that the following conditions can be problematic in the breed:

✅ Ceroid Lipfuscinosis (CL)
✅ Collie Eye Anomoly (CEA)
✅ Trapped Neutrophil Syndrome (TNS)
✅ Canine Hip Dysplasia

petsy.com also suggest that the following health challenges can be experienced in the breed:

✅ Progressive Retinal Atrophy (PRA)
✅ Epilepsy
✅ Allergies
✅ Osteochondrosis Dissecans (OCD)

👉👇 See comments section for more information in health and testing from Border Collie breeders and those in the know.

It is important you fully research the breed you are interested in to learn more about the full scope of health conditions the breed is affected by and what screening tools are available to breeders.
If a breeder is not conducting the available testing, you need to ask why and decide whether their answer meets that of a breeder you would like to support by purchasing a puppy from.

Leave the emotions at the door, ignoring red flags from breeders because you want the puppy may land you in some hot water and you'll want to make sure you get health insurance the day the puppy comes home and ensure it covers the conditions the breed is prone to.

🧐 Border Collies are a working breed and may not be suitable to low activity or inexperienced families - personalities and activity levels vary between lines - the breed does tend to split off into different paths in Australia which can result in different temperaments and activity levels such as: Show lines, Working Lines & Performance lines - research carefully so you don't end up with a dog that doesn't match your lifestyle and expectations. This subject alone can get rather heated 🔥

Hi All, My phone is on the blink. Its going to take two days to come back online. My apologies for any inconvenience, although I'll still be workingl, all appointments will proceed as usual. I'll try and login here at least once a day, however I'm at the mercy of our sketchy access to the internet. Hopefully it's solved quickly. Emma.

Please, please, please, if you’re getting a puppy do some real research. These people bank on the fact that you won’t.

Please, please, please, if you’re getting a puppy do some real research. These people bank on the fact that you won’t.

Tasmanians have lost over $35,000 to puppy scams this year, with people sending money for pets that don't exist.

To date, there have been 11 Tasmanian victims who have lost approximately $35,000 to overseas scammers.

“Scammers set up fake websites or ads on online classifieds and social media pretending to sell sought-after dog breeds and will take advantage of the fact that you can’t travel to meet the puppy in person.

“The scammer will usually ask for up-front payments via money transfer to pay for the pet and transport it to you.

“Usually after the initial deposit the scammer will make new excuses to request more money such as delayed transport and shipping cost. Once you make the payments, the seller will cease all contact.”

“The only safe option is to purchases or adopt a pet from someone you can contact in person or purchase from a well know reputable breeder that you have researched well,” Detective Sergeant Turner said.

“Scam websites can look very convincing but remember if the price looks too good to be true, it probably is.”

If you are in doubt, seek advice from a reputable breeders’ association, vet or local pet shop.

“If you think you have been scammed, contact your bank or financial institution as soon as possible,” Detective Sergeant Turner said.
