🐍 Dry Season Snake Awareness 🐾

As the dry season begins in the Top End, snakes don’t disappear — in fact, they often move closer to homes and water sources, increasing the risk for pets.

We tend to see a spike in snake bite cases this time of year as grass dies back, burns occur, and wildlife (and snakes) shift their movement.

⚠️ Signs of snake bite:
• Sudden weakness or collapse with often brief recovery
• Wobbly back legs
• Dilated pupils
• Difficulty breathing or paralysis

⏱️ This is an emergency.
If you suspect a snake bite, don’t wait — early treatment can be lifesaving.

🚑 What to do:
• Keep your pet calm and still
• Carry them if possible
• Do NOT wash the bite site
• Come straight to the vet

✅ Reduce the risk:
• Keep grass short and yards tidy
• Remove rubbish and hiding spots
• Supervise pets, especially mornings/evenings
• Be cautious around water sources

We are fully equipped to treat snake envenomation, including access to antivenom and intensive care.

We’re upgrading our floors to be super grippy, easy to clean, and zoomie-approved 🐕💨
(No more Bambi-on-ice moments in the consult room 😅)

🐶 Dogs are excited for better traction
🐱 Cats are… judging us from a distance
🦎 The reptiles remain emotionally unchanged
