🔹 THE ROLE - LOCATION MAJURA, ACT

As a Canine Day School Handler, you’ll work alongside our senior handlers and operational team to:

- Support the structured training and enrichment programs that run daily at our Majura site
- Assist with canine handling, observation, and group management
- Provide accurate feedback and contribute to ongoing behaviour and training plans
- Maintain safety, structure, and consistency across all group activities
- Support our team with van driving shifts for our pick up and drop off canines from their homes
- Support with set-up, pack-down, and the smooth running of each day school session
- Engage professionally with clients

🔹 WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
- A genuine passion for dogs and a strong desire to build a career in the canine industry
- Receptiveness to coaching, feedback, and continuous self-development
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- A healthy level of fitness (you’ll be walking, lifting, and managing dogs all day)
- Reliability, initiative, and accountability in fast-paced environments
- Physical capability to manage dogs of varying sizes and temperaments
- A calm, patient, honest and professional approach — even on the busiest days

🔹 PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
- Previous professional or volunteer experience working with dogs
- Relevant qualifications or study in animal care, training, or behaviour is an advantage
- Customer service experience and confidence engaging with clients

Exciting news for all Canberra puppy parents! 🐾

Starting Monday the 14th October, we're opening up Canine Culture’s Puppy Day School at our new Fyshwick location.
Designed specifically for those who want to invest in their puppy’s growth and development with the help and support of passionate professionals.

Our Puppy Curriculum emphasises a structured day plan of appropriate exercises and activities catering to the different developmental periods. We focus on meeting them where they are at and adjusting these activities for the best outcome and benefit for each pup. Every puppy is an individual!

Whether it's creating good habits, enhancing social skills, or working on physical and mental enrichment, we ensure your puppy is supported by certified trainers and behaviour specialists who truly understand what it takes to raise a well-rounded dog.

Official welcome to Canine Culture foster dog “Loba” 🐶

This pretty girl found herself in the pound for a very long 6 months before the universe plucked some strings and helped her make her way here. When we heard about her situation, after following up on a notice by the ACT rescue and foster team, we decided we could help her.
We went and picked her up just in time on the date that she was due to be euthanised. This was a few months ago in January.

Loba is a bit of an intense dog, so it’s no surprise that she didn’t present well in the pound. The last few months with her we have set up all her routines and management to focus on being able to just decompress and allow all those different layers of stress to start to fall away.

Loba has settled in to our home really well. Now that she feels safe and has some stability around her she is allowing us to see new parts of her personality each day.

She loves “her people” fiercely. Finds immense joy in frolicking and rolling around off leash in the grass. Recently discovered that she can carry two chuckit balls at once if you’re not quick enough and will sell her soul for a venison ear.

We are working with Loba to help her become her best self, and although she has made huge leaps she still has a long way to go in her rehabilitation. When the right time comes we will start to consider her options for adoption. She is already very special to us and I know she is going to be a very difficult one to part with.

For now keep an eye on her on our socials here and there, we hope to share parts of her journey when we can ❤️

Job Summary:
We are seeking a passionate and motivated individual to join our team as a Canine Training Assistant. This position is designed for someone who is eager to develop their proffessional skill set working with canines in a team environment.

As a Canine Training Assistant, you will work closely with our experienced trainers and handlers to provide support during training sessions, contribute to canine training plans and management plans, assist with client interactions, and contribute to the overall success of our training of the canine’s we care for.

Key Responsibilities:
Assist Lead Trainer - Collaborate with our experienced trainers and lead management to support them in the handling, management and training of all the dogs in our care as well as offer support to a head trainer during private sessions, workshops, team training etc.
Client Interaction - Interact with clients, help answer their questions by providing general guidance, and offer support to ensure a positive experience.
Canine Handling - Safely handle dogs of various breeds and temperaments during training sessions, focusing on their well-being and safety.
Observation and Feedback - Actively observe dog behaviour during training sessions and provide feedback to trainers to help tailor training plans for individual dogs.
Set-Up and Clean-Up - Assist in preparing training areas before sessions and ensure they are clean and organized afterward.
Documentation - Maintain accurate records of training progress and client interactions, helping trainers track each dog's development.
Continued Learning - Stay updated on the latest canine training techniques, behaviour science, and industry trends to enhance your skills and contribute to our training programs.

What You Need:
A healthy attitude towards self development and receptiveness to being coached.
A strong passion for dogs and a genuine desire to work in the industry.
A strong desire to advance your knowledge of canine behaviour and training principles.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience working with dogs in a professional or volunteer capacity.
