WHAT IS PYOMETRA:
Pyometra is a serious and potentially fatal infection in unspayed female cats. It can occur after a heat cycle, whereby bacteria infect the uterus, leading to dangerous symptoms such as a distended abdomen, increased thirst, urination, and lethargy. Timely veterinary intervention is crucial for survival, as treatment typically involves the surgical removal of the uterus and ovaries alongside supportive care.
HOW TO PREVENT PYOMETRA:
The best way to prevent this condition is through spaying, which not only protects against pyometra but also contributes to overall feline health. Remember, pyometra is a medical emergency—if you suspect your cat might be affected, please seek immediate veterinary assistance.
We are so grateful to all who support and do ate to our mission which allows us to continue our life saving work.
Bucky’s story is a shining example of resilience and the love that comes from rescue, fostering, rehabilitation and rehoming pets. 💖
