White Line Disease isn’t a crack.
It’s wall separation.
When bacteria and fungi invade the inner hoof wall, they start breaking down the bond between the hoof wall and the sole. That’s when you see that chalky, crumbly material and hollow areas the wall literally separates from the internal structures.
Left alone?
That separation can travel upward and compromise the entire capsule.
As farriers, the goal isn’t to “patch it and hope.”
It’s to:
• Remove all diseased wall
• Open the area to oxygen
• Eliminate leverage on the separation
• Stabilise the capsule while healthy wall grows down
One product I’ve had good success with is EquiFibre by The Equid Apothecary
Why it works well for wall separation 👇🏼
✔️ Fills voids after proper debridement
✔️ Restores structural strength to weakened wall
✔️ Reduces movement in the separated area
✔️ Helps maintain balance during regrowth
✔️ Can be shaped and finished cleanly
But remember no product fixes poor mechanics.
Correct trim, correct breakover, managing moisture, and regular maintenance are what actually resolve wall separation long term.
The product just supports the process.
