UPDATE

To all of our members. Please not we have not completed our move to Birdwood just yet. We still have a small number of animals at Hillier that are being cared for by our vollies and they’ll be making their way up to Birdwood as soon as their structures and enclosures are finished.

Also note, that Hillier is not open to the public. It is now in the ongoing process of pack down and we have another 7-8 weeks to complete the move.

Updates for open days at Birdwood, volunteers and any other animal intakes will come soon, once we have finished organising the two properties. Please bear with us. This is a gigantic move that doesn’t happen overnight.

⭐️ 1st Rehoming of 2026 ⭐️

Theo and Apollo went off to their new home today. A massive thank you to Gary from Victory Horse Transport for loading both boys without any hassles, and to their new owners for taking on both of these stunners!

They will be greatly missed, but we are so happy they have found their forever home!

We have some AMAZING NEWS!

Theo and Apollo have found a new home!

These two boys have been an absolute pleasure while they've been in our care, but we are so excited to announce that they have found a new home... together! On Friday they will head off with their new people, and we couldn't be happier!

We still have quite a few horses looking for homes - if you are looking for your new best friend please send us a message. ❤️

We currently have several horses available for adoption/lease:

✅️"Buffy" - STB bay mare 15.2-15.3hh (approx). Currently out of work and hasn't been ridden in 6+ months. Has been ridden on and off over the years, no established canter under saddle previously so would need an experienced home to bring out the best in her as a ridden horse. Can be "marey", but fine for farrier, floats well and beautiful looking mare.

✅️"Destiny" - STB bay mare 15.1hh (approx). Hasn't been ridden whilst in our care, but previous owners claimed she has been. Beautiful movement when lunged and in the paddock. Can be "marey", but fine for the farrier and floated well.

✅️"Bundy" - TB bay gelding 16hh (approx). Suitable for companion home, with impeccable ground manners and a heart of gold. Bundy is the first to catch you in the paddock, loves attention and genuinely enjoys a good lunge or a bit of groundwork. Great for farrier, hasn't been floated since coming to us but wouldn't expect any issues.

✅️"Bessie" - TB chestnut mare 16.1-16.2hh (approx). Hasn't been ridden since in our care, but has previously competed in low level eventing. Beautiful, big movement on the lunge line. Can be "marey", but loves a treat so can be bribed. Great for farrier, hasn't been floated since coming to us but wouldn't expect any issues.

We are currently stretched very thin volunteer-wise and aren't able to allow volunteers or members from the general public to ride our horses. So with only one rider who works full-time, we just genuinely can't assess all of the horses looking for homes. We are happy to offer a lease to begin with, to experienced homes who would like to trial any of the rideable horses under saddle before committing to adoption.

Adoption fees have been reduced to try and move some of these beautiful horses on, as we understand the cost of living and feeding horses is at an all time high currently.

Please send us a message if you would like more information on any of these horses, but please note: NONE ARE SUITABLE FOR BEGINNERS UNDER SADDLE. They are all either ex-racehorses or ex-trotters and will require an experienced, knowledgeable home.

Reposting as we are now looking for a home for "Theo" only. He is currently in light work and will require an experienced home if wishing to be a ridden horse, but he is an absolutely beautifully natured gelding and will make someone very happy. If you think you might have a home for him, send us a PM!

Update: Theo and Apollo are still looking for their new home! We will consider a separate home for Theo, as long as there are other horses for him to be paddocked with. If you're interested in a low-fuss horse for light riding send us a PM - but note he is only suited for a confident, experienced rider being an OTTB

Almost all of our horses are now settling into our new home at Birdwood!

Thank you so much for all of the help and the support we've been shown while we're in the process of moving. It's a big job, and we couldn't do it without the help of our regular volunteers, Facebook community and everyone else who has offered assistance in some way!

We may be quiet for the next few weeks while we get everything sorted, but we have big plans for the New Year, so please stay tuned!
