DID YOU KNOW…?
There are so many dog sports out there that have nothing to do with heel work or jumping jumps!
At Puzzles by KivaDog we believe enrichment isn’t just about food puzzles and sniffing games (although that's definitely important right 😜). It’s about giving dogs appropriate outlets for their natural instincts, confidence, and a whole lot of fun.
Over the coming months, we’ll be sharing a “Did You Know?” series highlighting different dog sports you may have never heard of. These sports aren’t just for “high-drive” or dogs of specific breeds. Many can be adapted for:
✔️ Pet dogs
✔️ Nervous or cautious dogs
✔️ Dogs who need confidence-building
✔️ Dogs who just love to do stuff
You don’t need fancy gear, a perfect dog, or big goals, sometimes the biggest win is watching your dog light up doing something that makes sense to them.

First up: DOCK DIVING
A sport that’s more than just jumping into water!
Dock Diving is a brilliant enrichment activity because it combines play, movement, confidence-building and problem-solving, all while letting the dog choose how big or small their effort is.
WA are lucky enough to have a new facility, you can hire by the half hour (up to whole day!) to give your dog a go at this sport (you can even get in the water too!). They have a ramp directly into the water - should your dog like to start there or just decide that's where they are most comfortable! When I dabbled in this sport many years ago - my older girl thought the ramp was the best thing ever and my younger male thought leaping off the dock was LIFE! (Pic of his unco but happy self below 🤪)
"The launch of Leaps & Laps WA reflects a broader trend to expand beyond traditional obedience and behaviour training to offer wellness, enrichment and community-oriented experiences for dogs and their owners alike. It also signals increasing demand for specialised canine activities that promote physical health, social interaction and owner engagement."
