In 1989, after 7 years of training, preparing, showing and giving lessons, Norma decided to stop and concentrate on the horses bred by Bluegrass Arabians. This day 11 years ago the beautiful Queen of Bluegrass lost her battle with colic.

Bluegrass Love Me Tender (Mash x Bluegrass Lovepotion) was a huge part of the Bluegrass family. Such a heart breaking day 💔 for us all saying goodbye to this beautiful lady.

It's the long weekend in march in Victoria.....and a lifetime ago it is the CLASSIC weekend.🎉🎉

In the 80's and 90's (see i said a lifetime ago) The Victorian Arabian Classic became the show to be at. It got so big that there were 3 rings running to cover all the purebreds, entires, females and geldings. The Derivative classes were huge too. Back then to walk away with a ribbon was a huge feat.
It was nothing for team Bluegrass to bring 18 horses, our own and clients. The first trip from Shepparton was purely bedding (straw back then) and feed. I'd stay and clean and set up all the stables and in later years putting up the red white and blue show curtains.
It was a week away with so many amazing memories. The long days washing and prepping for the next day only to get up the next morning and the lovely grey horse and great big yellow urine stain 🫣🤦🏼‍♀️
And the fun we had with so many many amazing people. We had a 8x4 trolley to clean the stables into and one time it was found hanging from the roof of carriage pavilion 🤣🤣. It was a tiring but a truly amazing time.
We won many awards in our time showing there.
Here are some pics from the actual old showgrounds that I could find right now.
