Little Lola, presented recently for desexing. On examination with her premedication, an upper retained canine was found. Lola’s adult tooth had erupted slightly in front on her baby tooth, which was still very secure within her gum. If left intact, foreign bodies such as hair and debris could become lodged in between the two teeth, and infection could set in and cause enamel damage to her adult tooth. Dr Maddie excised the retained baby tooth after Lola’s desexing procedure, it was unlikely to fall out of its own accord. Lola recovered well from her procedure and is doing well today
