Mother’s Day can stir up all kinds of feelings. For some it’s filled with love and celebration. For others it can be a reminder of loss, longing or old wounds.

Wherever you find yourself today, may this be a gentle reminder that the past doesn’t have to shape your future. New beginnings are possible. There is space for hope and for connection in ways that feel right for you.

To all the mums, mother figures, carers and those holding both love and pain in their hearts today, we see you. We honour your journey. And we hold space for whatever today brings.

Warm wishes on this Mother’s Day.

🐴Noticing What Horses Already Know

There’s something special that unfolds when you stand next to a horse. Beyond their beauty and calm nature, they offer a quiet presence that invites honesty, safety, and regulation.

They’re not tools. They’re not therapists. They’re horses. Yet, their responses to a person’s nervous system are so precise, subtle, and consistent, it’s a conversation without words.

With my herd, I’ve observed how Misty’s posture shifts the moment someone disconnects from their body. Chance has a way of holding and expressing his boundary or comfort level when things feel too much. Barney often senses those needing extra support and quietly holds space for them.

Science is beginning to explore and validate these experiences. Recent studies have shown:

🌾Improved social interaction
🌾Enhanced regulation
🌾Increased engagement in therapy
🌾Physical shifts in breathing and posture

Horses have so much to offer, not just in therapeutic settings but in everyday interactions with those they share space with. It’s about learning to listen, not just with our ears but with our whole nervous system, tuning in to what’s happening internally, in our body and emotions.

Welcome our newest Brumby Equine Assisted Therapy (EAT) herd member, Summer🌼
She’s the sweetest and cutest little Shetland pony, and we’re already smitten. Despite her small size, she has a big presence and has shown she’s full of heart, curiosity, and gentle wisdom.

Summer made her grand debut during our recent Unplug & Reconnect school holiday workshop, where she was quickly crowned 👑Queen Summer Slay by a group of very enthusiastic kids. With her sparkly energy and calm nature, she brought so much joy to the paddock.

She’s already forming beautiful connections with the rest of the herd, and we can’t wait to see how she continues to support and shine alongside the children, teens and adults who visit Brumby EAT.

I’m Parihan Wyatt, Director and Counsellor at Brumby Equine-Assisted Therapy. My practice is grounded in the understanding that real growth unfolds when we return to our own inner rhythm. It’s an honour to accompany others as they make sense of where they’ve been, how they feel now, and where they wish to move next.

As a qualified counsellor and certified equine-assisted mental health practitioner, I offer a setting where clients can slow down, notice, and safely explore what’s happening beneath the surface. For many, traditional talk therapy doesn’t feel like the right fit. Being in relationship with horses, within a natural environment, opens a fresh and deeply intuitive way of reconnecting with one’s self.

The work I offer is not about fixing what is bent. It’s about coming into full contact with what is alive in you: your emotions, sensations, and patterns as they show up moment to moment. Together, we explore how your body holds experience, how it speaks through feelings and reactions, and how it can guide you toward steadiness and clarity when given the chance to be heard.

This approach supports those who feel caught, disconnected, or unsure of what they need. It offers a return to authenticity, a chance to feel seen, held, and met in a way that honours your whole experience. Whether you’re navigating change, holding something heavy, or simply wanting to feel more like yourself, I’m here to walk beside you.

The herd I share this work with are not assistants or techniques. They are individuals with their own rhythms, choices, and relationships, and they are essential to everything this work is. I value them deeply, not just as part of the process, but as wise and feeling beings.

“Everything you’ve ever wanted is on the other side of fear.” -Unknown

Fear shows up in many ways, fear of judgment, failure, shame, rejection, not being enough, losing control, or simply being vulnerable. But what if the very thing we’re afraid of is actually the path toward everything we’re longing for…our authentic self?

Investing in ourselves is the bravest thing we can do. To love ourselves first. To nurture, care and show compassion to the parts we often hide.
Courage isn’t something we need to find, it already lives within us. We just need to access it.

💡🌿What fear are you ready to move through?
