A celebration of life for Daphne 💕
We have decided to honour Daphne's life with a get together on August 15th 2026, 1-3pm at Barks and Recreation
I was debating whether to do this or not, but then I thought what would Daphne want.
To be honest, she would want a public holiday declared in her name where we would worship her all day, but that's proving hard to organise 😅 So this is the next best thing!
It will be a day of everyone coming together to remember Daphne, or even if you didn't know her, coming along to hear about how special she was 💜
Dog friendly dogs are welcome and encouraged.
We will be raising money for Pet Medical Crisis . This is an amazing charity who are a lifeline for people experiencing financial hardship and their pets who need life saving veterinary care. They make it possible so that humans and their pets can stay together. We were very lucky and grateful that thanks to everyone's generous donations via GoFundMe, and my amazing brother, that we could afford Daphne's numerous vet bills. Without this, we wouldn't have been able to afford her care, and would have likely had to say goodbye when she first had the accident if not for charities like Pet Medical Crisis.
We will also have a donation box to donate pet supplies towards animal rescues. Think in date food, treats, toys, blankets, beds, towels etc!
We will be donating towards Geelong Animal Rescue GAR Ltd who Daphne was adopted from many years ago and without them we wouldn't have our Duck, Rescued With Love who does amazing work, especially with dogs with many health issues and disabilities (I'd like to think if anything had ever happened to us and Daphne had needed somewhere to go, they would take her with open arms) and Second Chance Animal Rescue Inc. who are an awesome rescue who do outstanding community work to help keep humans and their pets together.
We will also have a chocolate/lolly/biscuit box to contribute to, to gift to all of the vets, nurses and reception staff at Animal Referral Hospital Essendon Fields . ARH became our second home after Daphne's accident, having been admitted 4 times in the past 2 years, and attending regular internal medicine appointments. We cannot thank the team enough for the care they gave to Daphne. They gave her a fighting chance, and without them she wouldn't have had an extra 2 years 💖
Come along and help us have a final farewell for our Daphy Duck. Let us know if you will be popping in, or staying for a snack and a chat.
I'm hoping that this will bring us some sort of closure. She was a very special girl who touched so many lives 💗 I miss her very day.
