WHY I FEED GREEN BEANS TO PUPPIES 🫛

Just one of the fresh vegetables I introduce to all of my puppies is the green bean straight from the refrigerator!

Green beans are one of my favorite whole food snacks and there’s a lot more packed into these little green pods than most people realize.

🫛 Low in calories, big on nutrition:
Green beans provide fibre, vitamins, minerals, and an impressive collection of naturally occurring plant compounds, making them a great alternative to many highly processed treats.

Packed with protective polyphenols:
Green beans contain rutin, quercetin, kaempferol, catechins, and phenolic acids such as chlorogenic, caffeic, and ferulic acid.
These compounds help combat oxidative stress and have demonstrated antioxidant and anti inflammatory activity.

Naturally rich in carotenoids:
Lutein, beta-carotene, and zeaxanthin add another layer of antioxidant protection and help support cellular and eye health.

Fresh vegetables should be used as a topper or treat not a replacement for your dogs regular meal.

CHANGE OF SEASON 🐾🌻🪲

Paralysis ticks are a risk all year round, but the danger is usually highest from SPRING through SUMMER and into AUTUMN roughly September to May.

For dogs, I’d be especially vigilant now as we are moving into spring.

Keep a regular schedule for your chosen prevention & check over your dogs body daily particularly the head, ears, neck, under the collar, between toes, armpits and groin.

If you suspect a paralysis tick, remove it if you can and seek urgent veterinary care immediately.

Audrey May is into the second half of her pregnancy.

Great news she has her appetite back & is now making up for the missed meals!!

What’s happening on the inside with the puppies?

* Their bones are becoming more developed.
* Their features, including little legs and paws, are continuing to form.
* They are growing rapidly and starting to take up more room in Audrey’s tummy.

IS BIRD FLU A DANGER TO DOGS?

Thankfully with no confirmed cases in pet dogs it is considered very uncommon, however Bird flu - avian influenza - H5 can be dangerous and potentially fatal to dogs.

Even though the risk is small, you should take simple steps to keep your pet safe during local bird flu outbreaks:

Use a Leash:
Keep your dog on a leash at beaches, parks, lakes, and rivers where wild birds gather.

Avoid Wildlife:
Do not let your dog sniff, touch, chase, or eat sick or dead birds.

Secure Food:
Stop wild birds from getting into your dog's outdoor food and water bowls.

Avoid contact with infected birds, their secretions/faeces, or contaminated raw animal products.

DO DOGS GET MORNING SICKNESS 🐾🤢

They sure do!

Not all my girls have shown signs but there’s definitely some days where food is the last thing on their mind!

Dog morning sickness can happen from around 3 to 5 weeks.
Some poor girls just like humans can have nausea all the way through!

They may show symptoms like these
🐾 Eat less or become fussy with food
🐾 Seem mildly nauseous or lip lick more
🐾 Occasionally vomit
🐾 Still otherwise seem happy, bright and normal

I have been tempting Audrey with bland food - cooked kangaroo steak and chicken breast with little interest, so yesterday I made her a dog version of chicken schnitzel and scrambled the left over egg & we had a win!
Today she’s eating quite well again!
