It’s time to guess that egg!

This is just a little bit of fun to spice things up, so get your thinking caps on and have a good ole guess.

In the picture below, there is a bunch of eggs which are from nine different species of birds found here at Bertie’s backyard.

Here is a couple of tips.

Tip number one.
None of these eggs came from any of our breeds of chooks.

Tip number two.
None of these are from any Australian native species.

Tip number three.
Some of these eggs are from domesticated fowl and some are from our exotic species.

Giving our new box thorn/tree puller a red hot go.

A decent amount of these black pines will not be going to complete waste, they will be going into one of our waterfowl enclosures to give them a bit more cover for nesting.

It is wild our fast goslings grow, of any species.

These two not so small babies will be getting moved very soon to their own space until we work out what the future holds for them.

Nothing like seeing these speedsters enjoying the wide open spaces.

These white homing pigeons have a busy future ahead of them, we just need to finalise a few things before we go ahead.

Bertie took four of these birds to a very fabulous wedding he was attending as a gift for the Bride and Groom, and I hear that they were very impressed, as were the guests and the birds performed magnificently!

Some of our Mandarin ducks living their best life.

All the girls are laying quite well this season, we will start their eggs in the incubator and put them under a broody silkie to give them the best chance, we also found raising them under a quiet species really makes a difference, they’re less flighty and way more confident which makes them more enjoyable to watch.

We don’t have any adults available and we don’t sell fertile eggs or ducklings.

The first batch of chickens for 2026.

A lot of people are finishing up when we are just starting, and we aren’t running late, this is just how we roll.
We only hatch chickens for 6 weeks of the year, and we will easily produce 700 to 800 chickens in that time.

And before you ask, no, we don’t sell any of them.
We are not a hatchery.
We grow all these birds out to their full potential so we can select what we want because we are always looking to improve our birds.
We also vaccinate every single one for Mareks, ILT, Mycoplasma Mg and fowl pox, which is a lot easier with our hatching schedule.
