🐴 A LITTLE INTRODUCTION — WHO IS BEHIND ELITE EQUESTRIAN ACADEMY?

For those who are new around here, I thought it was time to properly introduce myself and share a little bit about where my journey with horses began. 🤎

I’ve been riding since the tender age of 1 year old — so, quite literally, horses have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember.

My mum, Bec Griffin, was an equine trainer, coach and business owner from a young age, so it was probably inevitable that I would follow in her footsteps. I grew up riding, learning, competing and spending countless hours alongside Mum, watching, helping and absorbing everything I could.

Elite Equestrian Academy was established and successfully run by Mum long before I took over the reins. While the face of the business may have evolved over the years, the foundations have never changed.

Our philosophy, standards, professionalism and commitment to doing right by the horse have been there from day dot. It’s something Mum instilled in me from a very young age, and something I am incredibly proud to continue carrying forward today.

My own education has also come from some of the best show jumping and eventing coaches in Australia, who I have been incredibly fortunate to learn from throughout my riding career. I was also a member of the Victorian State Show Jumping Youth Squad for 6 years, which provided me with invaluable experience, opportunities and exposure to competition at a high level.

I started competing in the English disciplines and have had the opportunity to ride and compete to 1 star eventing and 1.20m show jumping. Along the way, I developed a huge passion for producing horses, particularly the process of taking a horse from the foundations and building them into confident, capable and willing athletes.

Although I’ve been helping Mum train horses since I was a little girl, I have now been officially running my own horse training and coaching business for 10 years.

Over the past couple of years, I’ve also taken a new direction in my own riding and made the transition into the Western disciplines, with a strong focus on reining and cow horse.

And honestly, I have loved being a student again.

Learning a completely different discipline has challenged me, expanded my knowledge and reminded me just how important it is to always remain curious and willing to learn. I believe being a good trainer doesn’t mean you ever stop being a student.

🤎 My philosophy with horses is simple:

I want to create soft, willing, confident and educated horses.

I believe in building strong foundations rather than rushing the process. I believe horses should understand what we are asking of them, not simply learn to tolerate it. I believe in patience, consistency, softness and clear communication.

Whether I’m working with a young horse, restarting an older horse, preparing a competition horse or helping a rider find confidence in the saddle, my goal is always to create a partnership where horse and rider understand each other and can genuinely enjoy their work together.

I’m incredibly passionate about educating both horses AND riders. There is nothing I love more than seeing that lightbulb moment — when something suddenly makes sense for a horse, or a rider realises they are capable of something they once thought they couldn’t do.

And, of course, I’m still incredibly passionate about competing.

I love having goals, challenging myself, continuing to develop my own horses and putting everything I teach into practice. I believe competition is one of the greatest teachers — it tests your preparation, your partnership and your ability to adapt when things don’t go perfectly.

So, whether you’ve been following my journey for years or you’re brand new here — welcome to Elite Equestrian Academy.

This business is a reflection of everything I love about horses:

✨ Education
✨ Partnership
✨ Competition
✨ Horsemanship
✨ Confidence
✨ Continuous learning

And most importantly — doing right by the horse, always.

There is always more to learn, more to improve and more horses to help.

I’m incredibly proud of where this business has come from, grateful for everything Mum has taught me, for the incredible coaches who have helped shape my riding and training, and excited to continue building on those foundations.

This isn’t just a business I’ve created — it’s a lifetime spent learning, riding, competing, training and doing what I love. 🤎🐴

You can sure get a lot done if you aren’t worried about being “perfect” all the time.

Perfection will have you overthinking, second-guessing, waiting for the “right” time, and being afraid to mess up. Meanwhile, progress comes from simply doing the work.

Do it imperfectly. Learn as you go. Fix what needs fixing. Get better with repetition.

You don’t have to have it all figured out before you start. Sometimes the people who accomplish the most aren’t the ones who do everything perfectly—they’re the ones who are willing to start, adjust, and keep going.

Progress over perfection. Every single time.

Coaching That Builds Confidence 🐴

A great day at Stawell Pony Club’s Adults Rally — and a reminder that it’s never too late to learn, improve and become a better partnership with your horse.

My coaching is centred around creating soft, willing and confident horses and riders, with a strong focus on developing the foundations that make everything else easier.

Whether you’re looking to:
✨ Improve your flatwork & dressage
✨ Develop your jumping
✨ Introduce poles & gridwork
✨ Build confidence in the saddle
✨ Improve your position, feel and effectiveness
✨ Start developing your horse’s education from the ground up
✨ Explore dry work for western disciplines

Lessons can be tailored to you and your horse, whether you’re just starting out, returning to riding, bringing on a young horse or looking to take your riding to the next level.

I believe good coaching isn’t about forcing a horse into a frame or chasing a result — it’s about creating understanding, softness, confidence and a horse that wants to work with you.
