Snake sighting Corinella cemetery.

Decently large copperhead dangerously venomous if provoked.

Just a heads up if your in the vicinity to look at the ground around you.

They are very docile so will likely take off before you see it but just incase.

Every day is different. Today i made a boo boo (no one hurt) but after 2ish ours of waiting for a sneaky tiger to come out of a really small hole between a garden bed and a concrete slab i got it in the bag lift the bag up to realise the snakes hooked itself to the rim to not drop in the bag and WOOSH gust of wind flicks the bag up and KACHOW snakes out of the bag in a rush of putting the bag down in a spot i can grab it again i lost it. To say i was pee'd off at myself is an understatement. Spent another 1.5hrs waiting plus did another call out but it didn't re show for me. Snake catching sometimes has bad days and that was a bad one for sure.

Some great info and an idea to wildlife safe. Block one end then bury it. U can then call a catcher and we can retrieve it from in the pipe.

Did you know that if you bury pipe like this along your fence line you can potentially keep your dog and local wildlife safe?

Snakes often become trapped in a backyard with a dog and if they have somewhere to take cover, they will use it to avoid the dogs attention.

When you come home from work the dog, in theory, will be barking at the opening of the pipe as opposed to suffering a bite.

Then it's just a matter of calling your local snake catcher to come and get it while you remove the dog.

Don't forget to keep a visual of the opening until your snake catcher gets there.

I recommend this cheap and easy idea if you are seeing snakes in your area.
It can save other animals like this bluetongue lizard from unwanted doggy attention to.

Cheers

Stay safe

SNAKE BITE AWARENESS DAY.

If you see a snake call a catcher dont try catch or kill it as your more likely to get bitten than call a catcher to come and safely remove it.

If you’ve ever asked yourself, why do snake catchers exist? Why aren’t all snakes killed? Aren’t snakes pests? THIS POST IS FOR YOU! 🐍

In Australia, our snakes are native and protected, this is because they play a vital role in the ecosystem. They control pest population, contribute to nutrient cycling, serve as a food source for many other animals, and play a huge role in cultural significance.

Due to an influx in development, many more snakes are showing up in suburbia because of the lack of bushland that they were originally in. Because of this, the role of snake catching exists. Hundreds of snake catchers all around Australia devote 24/7 365 days of their time to rescuing and relocating snakes to ensure the species thrives. It is not only a full-time job, but a passion too.

Believe it or not, snakes are not pests. The definition of a pest is something that causes damage, spreads disease, and is a nuisance to livestock or humans…. snakes are none of that! The only way in which a snake will bite is if it is either provoked, or protecting itself from a perceived threat. Other than that, snakes try their best to stay away from us, why would they want anything to do with something 10x their size?!

If you have the time, have a scroll through our page, you might learn something and see a new perspective on snakes! Education is key 🔑

As temperatures climb, so does snake activity! 🐍

Remember, while they're out and about, they're generally no threat if you give them space.

Let's all be extra careful out there:

✅ Tidy your outdoor areas.
✅ Supervise pets and children.
✅ Wear proper shoes and long pants outdoors.
✅ Never try to catch or harm a snake.
✅ Call 000 immediately if a bite occurs.

When the science is sciencing they discovered that 2 different ends of aus have different kinds of venom and may need different kinds of antivenom.

🐍 A new study from the University of Queensland reveals a striking discovery about Australia’s deadly Eastern Brown Snake: its venom differs significantly between northern and southern populations, and both are potentially lethal—but in completely different ways.

Southern snakes produce a taipan-like venom that forms strong, lasting blood clots, whereas northern snakes generate venom that creates fragile clots that collapse almost immediately. Despite these opposing effects, both types of venom can kill, highlighting the complexity and danger of these snakes.

This discovery raises urgent questions about the effectiveness of current antivenoms, which are produced using pooled venoms of unclear geographic origin. If a patient is bitten by a snake whose venom isn’t adequately represented in the antivenom, the treatment may not fully protect them.

Researchers are now reviewing hospital records and testing available antivenoms to determine if regional differences in venom require more tailored treatment—an approach they call “precision toxicology.”

The team also linked venom differences to genetics and diet: southern populations feed more on reptiles, while northern snakes eat more mammals, which may explain the evolution of distinct venom types.
